I was thinking about trying to write an app for Android, since my phone at leas,t has an accelerometer...does the iphone have an accelerometer?

Anyway, I looked and there are already dyno sims out there for free, so I figured I wouldn't mess with it.

I have toyed with the thought of creating a livemap app for android. I want to start learning how to write apps for it anyway, so it may be a learning experience, but I don't know if I will ever get around to it. I have a CarPC so I have no motivation to do it.

But, both of your apps are great. We are all here (especially in the ECUFlash forum) to help each other out. Keep in mind too that all of this started from mrfred's excel spreadsheet. So, it's just people building on other people's work and that's fine. It's what makes communities like this great. Everyone is always helping others out towards a common goal. Everyone keep up the good work!

I'm not sure if the iphone has an actual accelerometer but I know it can be simulated with their gyroscope and other built-in devices,I'm sure. Mine doesn't work off accelerometers by by actual engine data so there is no variances. I bet there are 'for Dummies' books out on how to write droid apps if you do a little googling. The kicker will be an OBDII interface that plugs into the iPad, iPod Touch,iPhone or one for the Droid. That will be the next thing I foresee being created someday. That is an item that will make someone some money if they market it right. People like portable and convenience so it'll happen by someone out there.

You are right that MrFred is by far the man who created the initial spark to all of this and I ALWAYS thank him and make it known that he got the idea rolling in this forum and I applaud him on his ingenuity, always.

Just re-iterating to everyone, I don't want there to be a feud going on here between these two apps and I have already posted in Brads thread with nothing but advice. I will NOT jump in there and mention any improvements my App ever may have over his at any time. That's why I have my thread. I find it to be a better practice to only mention my products strong suits and not mention any flaws his may ever have, that's just bad campaigning. I never like it with politics either. We are Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, both making similar products but one guy is just better looking lol.

    .
  • The built-in Vehicle Library will automatically update as the Vehicle Library expands on the websites database so you always have the most current/accurate vehicle library we have compiled at any time.
    .
  • Built-in Tutorials on how to calculate your Vehicles Frontal Area and Drag Coefficient if that information isn't available by any public resource.
    .
  • You can select your datalog file by pointing and clicking (no more copy/pasting with Excel)
    .
  • The ability to compare 2 datalogs on the graph simultaneously (more than 2 is just clutter and overkill IMO)
    .
  • Full support of Evoscan,DSMlink,AEM EMS,Zeitronix and other Tuning software datalog files
    .
  • Can view HP,TQ, AFR,Timing and BOOST all at once if the user chooses
    .
  • TPS Trim option (user can choose to have the software only look at the WOT portion of the datalog)
    .
  • New HP,TQ calculations are more accurate than ever before (totally different and better than v5.71!)
  • Improved HP,TQ calculations use EVERY line of data for increased accuracy as well.
    .
  • Dyno simulations compiled from a HUGE database of information from MANY Dynos across the U.S.
(I've been compiling data for over a year now and I still want MORE! lol)
    .
  • Easier, more accurate graph smoothing. Greater smoothing range to accommodate even the largest common datalogs. You won't max out the smoothing range before your log has been fully smoothed.
    .
  • Can instantly capture and save .jpeg image of the dyno graph at the click of a button (some forums cannot view anything but .jpeg file uploads or links)
    .
  • Image snapshot shows all vehicle information, dyno simulation settings and weather correction values so people don't need to post up all of that information when they post up a snapshot of their dyno graph.
    .
  • All pertinent adjustments at your fingertips and all important vehicle data viewable on the screen at all times
    .
  • No longer need to RPM TRIM the end of your run for anomalies!!!!!!
    .
  • No shows Corrected and UNcorrected HP,TQ values when weather correction is used.
    .
  • Currently working on improving the Weather Correction formulas even more to better reflect the specific SAE standard the Dyno's use.
    .
  • Plus...it looks cool,lol

There is more that I am forgetting too, lol.

Also, users will get the new 1/4 Mile POWER Analysis Add-on App and the Acceleration Add-on app after v6.00 is released as well.

The 1/4 Mile POWER App:

The user can select their 1/4 Mile datalog from the track, enter their vehicle info, 1/4 Mile time and your trap speed. The analyzer trims the log file to only show power from the time you launch til the time you cross the beams. It will show a HP power curve throughout the entire run so you can see what is going on throughout all 4 gears and also see where you are losing power potential between shift points.

The analyzer also compiles an average HP value throughout the entire run to see how much power was sustained throughout the run. This can be useful to see where improvements may be made in your shifting methods,RPM shift points and also where power may be lacking in a particular gear. Just another tool that may be handy for some of you. There will also be a 0-60MPH and 0-100MPH feature as well.

The Acceleration App:

The user can see how their tuning adjustments improved/hindered their acceleration from certain MPH ranges (30-50MPH,40-70MPH,etc) and the MPH points can be completely user defined.

There will also be a 0-60MPH feature on this App as well.

Users can opt to add these add-on App's only if they choose to do so since some may have no need for them.

As you can see, V6.00 has a lot going on compared to v5.71 since I rebuilt it from the ground up this time around. I would like to have the most versatile Tuner Toolbox out there for us to use. If there is anything these programs currently don't offer that you feel would be a useful tuning tool, please let me know and I will see if its feasible to add in the future. Thanks everyone for the support since the beginning!
JoT FTW!

I agree ... and I wont hop in here spouting off about the shortcomings of your app either. I think its fair to have both and some may prefer yours and some prefer mine. Use which ever you like. To use the Bill and Steve analogy ... PC or Mac ... its just a matter of preference.

lol, I missed your post until now. I decided to stop focusing on the VDR-Lite version for now so I could focus on the Stand-Alone version with Kevin (eXtreme-Speed). As you can see from the list, there is plenty to finish

I can't give a definite timeframe and I hate throwing a date out there only to miss the deadline. I am hoping this week will be the week that the base structure is completed and then we can focus on the online vehicle database and the add-on's hopefully. I would LOVE to launch v6.00 with the 1/4 Mile analyzer and Acceleration add-on's completed but I will at least try to set it up so its easy to include those at a later time. I'm still getting more Dyno data too so that'll help the finished product be that more inline with dyno results out there.

I NEED 1/4 MILE DATALOGS!!!!!!!!!

If I could race my car I'd love to get you some. I'll talk to some local guys and see if they can come up with something.

And I agree the names are too closely associated. Should mix it up a bit.

I already decided to support you jack a long time ago especially when you said you would help me with getting this going for subaru's which you basically have with the vehicle database and new version. Keep up the work and I look forward to your program debut, I will have my donation waiting.

As many as you have to offer.

Okay. I have 14 runs. I also have all the time slips. But ill have to match the time slip to the log, then Ill title the log with the ET and trap speed.

Then Ill send em over.

I'm pushing 2 years of research and a lot of trial and error. There are a lot of variables to account for with these programs. The trick is to have it work for the user every time and to plan for every possible variable that might pop up. It took over a year of these random issues to get most of them taken care of internally in the program so the user never sees any issues on their end. The only delay now is converting my newest excel data into formulas and code for the stand-alone language. I am learning as I go, didn't even know what a macro was until a month or two ago lol. I learn fast.

Alright well I downloaded it again jack... and opened it right up, and using the default log values, it should show a dyno graph of the 2... Mine shows nothing.

I am using openoffice 3.2. I had it work on my other laptop, and this one once.

Help?

I will try to DL .net one more time...

All, please keep any discussion of competing products in their own threads. I don't want any cross battles between products. Stay on point.
