3.5 bar sensors...AEM & SSI...one the same?

Looking to get a 3.5bar map sensor, so I start doing research and come across SSI Tech's 0-50PSIA sensor.

Looking at pics of it, it looks very similar to that of AEM's 3.5bar sensor at a 1/3 of the cost.

Does anyone know if AEM basically purchases their sensors from SSI, and rebadges them?

SSI's specs...they have multiple 3.5bar/50psia sensors w/ diff voltage ratings and outputs...I assume this is the correct one that i'd want to use?

Operating Pressure 0 ~ 50 PSIA
Voltage - Rated 4.75 - 5.25VDC
Output 0.5 ~ 4.5V
Package / Case Stainless Steel
Pressure Type Absolute
Features MediaSensor™
Interface 36” Harness
Pressure Port 1/8" (3mm) 27 NPT Male

there's a 1-5v output SSI 3.5bar, but has a voltage rating of 8-30v...dont think thats the correct one.

Couldn't find AEM's specs, aside from realizing its a .5-4.5V output sensor after reading their .pdf manual on it.

any input on this? just trying to find us guys alternatives at a cheaper price that works equally as good!

and lastly, WTH is this? a "3.5bar sensor kit" but in 'brass' from AEM...
http://aempower.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=1437
why is it $65 compared to its counterpart from AEM that is 165 for the stainless body. someone tell me whats diff!

Thanks,

Mike

AEM has used both SSI and Kavlico sensors. My SSI went bad (stopped reading correctly after a year) and my Kavlico has been much longer lived.

thanks for that tidbit of info.

where'd you order your SSI and kavlico from? Digikey seems to be SSI's main distributor, but they are overseas in europe IIRC, and prefer not to go that route.

I can't remember on the SSI but the Kavlico came from Zeitronix.

We use Kavlico which offer superiors quality to SSI. SSI asks as frequently to buy sensors from them. Yes, SSI sensors are cheaper and we could make a good margin on them, BUT NO we will not sacrifice quality.

thanks for the headsup Zeitronix!

on a side note, the 30-2131-50 sensors from AEM (the brass body ones) are .5-4.5v output sensors just like the 30-2130-50. And the brass body sensors are only $64.99
