Poor Cold Idle (Yes I searched)
I can tell you on the V7 rom the "pit of -5s" you can definitely see at startup when logging. I just changed all those to what my regular timing map would look like and timing is now normal since I am not trying to catch the cat on fire. Also with the V7 rom I changed all the fuel tables to the 0011 rom values, and of course did the open loop mod for idle/warmup and have been successful with that. I also copy/pasted the low coolant temp timing trim values from the 0011 rom over to the V7 also as they are way different. The reason for this is with the V7, the car was wanting to idle way high (like 2500 rpm)
FYI, changing that table didn't fix rough low-throttle idle for me during warmup either.
I've tried to keep my mouth shut in this thread, though, because in addition to having no EGR, I'm also running E-85 (which complicates the situation in cold weather). Changing that "unknown" table to look more like a proper timing map helped, but I suspect only because E-85 hates low timing and cold weather.

Any and all information is a plus. I am certain that more threads like this will pop up as the days continue to get colder.
Logic....since you can code pretty easily, I posted a 96530006 only table earlier. It is not in v7. We are all switching over so could you be the stud that you are and get the addresses for it so we can "play" with it in v7?

Do you mean the table I quoted the addresses for in post 98? That's the one I'm talking about; I tried making that table look more like a normal timing table, and while it helped, I suspect the "help" was for some of my E85-related issues.
As near as I can tell 96530006 (and derivatives like v7) is a black sheep with that table. 88590015 doesn't seem to have anything similar, nor does 96420007, 94170015, or 96940011. This seems to be something particular to the market it came from.
I originally thought it might actually be related to hardware-antilag, but the amount of retard is way too low, and the RPM/load range for the effect are pretty odd. I just haven't had the willpower to make myself read through that patch of code to see what's going on.

Yeah, you are right about post #98.....I should have looked back, sorry.
So because it isn't "global" for the roms that fall under 96530006 you would recommend against using it?

Heck, since we are switching to 96530006 v7 any how....I went ahead and added the tables. Once I get it loaded in my car and test the cold start. I will tweek the table to look like a stock timing table to see if this solves the dredded cold idle issue.
I didn't say that.
If it's there and it's useful, I'd call it fair game. I didn't see much improvement in my limited testing, but it's very possible that my results were because of my own self-inflicted issues.

OK so v7 is like Lucky Charms cereal....Magically Delicious.
I transplanted my tuned rom into v7 today. The car fired up and idled like a champ, albeit a little sloppy at first. I did nothing to chang any of the peripherys other than what Phenom had already done. I did disconnect the battery before the flash so to clear any residual memory.
At first the car did sputter and fight to stay running, but as my fuel trims began to re-learn everything smoothed out nicely. (trims are now -0.91 and -4.1) My LTFT mid might need a smidge of adjustment in the MAF scaling table. No biggie though as -4.3 is still acceptable.
I was unable to drive the car cold because today was a warm day. I will report back when the weather changes again.
All of the EGR tables are active and set as stock. My EGR is still blocked though with a block off plate. (EGR CEL had been disabled as has much of the emmisions CELs)
What I can say is that my car has never ran as smooth as it is now. I think the "big maps" allowed me to make the drivability regions much smoother since my previous rom I had to remove drivability columns in order to gain higher load columns.

Applaud... do me a favor and post up a log of your cold start please I want to check out something. Log load, rpm, airflow, battery, air temp, coolant temp, Inj pulse width, Inj duty cycle, WBO2, LTFT Low, Mid, STFT, and Front O2. I wanna see how your STFT is reacting at different situations, and see if it is acting like mine. Thanks.
Also, I changed my map back to closed loop operation for the last day to try some other stuff 1 by 1. I see some new maps for STFT min/max. I adjusted the STFT max before I left for work (changed all the 25 to 17.4), but the car was warm so I couldn't tell if that worked or not. The theory behind this one is that when the car goes rich STFT is pegged at -25, so it can't take enough fuel out, so I am guessing that I am lowering the amount of fuel it can actually dump. Will log it later on once the car is cold since my laptop is in the car here at work with me.

I tried a couple of things to fix it like adjusting the base idle via the SAS actuator, and also increased timing in that area, but it didn't really help. As soon as I switched back to the stock lower load values all of my cold start and driveability issues disappeared, so it will be interesting to see if your issues are sorted out now.

Freddie, will do, but I have to wait a couple more days when the colder weather comes in.
As for the STFT, it will do huge swings. Once it pegs at + or - 25 then your LTFTs will adjust. If your LTFTs are stuck at 0 or pegged at 25, you are too far out of range with your injector and / or MAF scalings.
evl08.....I am not 100% certain that the issue is resolved. The days have been too warm to test the results.

Freddy, based on what you had to do with your idle table to get the fueling back I'd say your 14v latency is too much. I dont know if already figured that out, I may have missed the post.

Actually there is a table that affects cold idle....see post 98 from Logic. The put the xml into your v7. When you open the table, change the idle area to match your current idle timing. Only change the idle areas (the 5s). Doing this has greatly improved my cold idle.
Today I removed all of my EGR and EVAP junk. Started the car when it was cold....went for a small drive in the neighborhood......PROBLEM SOLVED ! !
I owe it to v7 and Logic for finding the xml that needed adjustment.
