Fixed boost leaks -> Now Very Rich

Long story short, I fixed some major boost leaks, and now may car is running very rich.

I need to pull my existing tune, to see what it should be, but WOT, at lower boost than I normally run, A/F is 10.1

I probably need a re-tune now, but I just wanted to get some opinions on here.

Thanks

Exactly. The car was tuned with boost leaks and a ton of fuel was added apparently. Lean it back out.

Air was being metered, then leaking out. The ECU was trying to inject fuel for all of that air, including the stuff that was no longer there.

You need to re-tune

I would think that open loop tuning with a leak would be set around 11:1 with....lets say 10% of air not actually making it to the mix. Once the leak is fixed, you'd think that 100% of air is making it into the combustion chamber even though the amount of fuel didn't change. I would assume the mix would go LEANER once the additional air made it into the combustion chamber.

Unless the peak load 'path' went down to a lower, untuned area that was insanely rich.

yeah boost leak after the MAF when fixed will result in a leaner tune.

HOWEVER boost leak usually means you will be hitting different loads (high loads) so you may be hitting a different part of the map...

Sorry, to clarify I agree with JOT and tephra... it should result in a leaner tune, but you may have been in different (likely higher) load cells.

Thanks for all fo the responses guys.

I know I had the boost turned down to 25 lbs, and after I fixed the leaks, it jumped back up to about 28-29lbs. So I had to make a couple more turns down on the boost controller.

I am going to pull my current tune today, and reviw the log I did during a 3rd gear pull, and see what load columns I am hitting.

I would love to be able to fix this myself, but I havent delved into tuning much yet.
