Help for my RS from the experts:)

Alright fellas, I'm thinking about putting the stock ECU in my RS and running speed density with it but I have a few issues I need to get around and need some help.

I'd use the Tephra-Phenum SD ROM if I do this unless someone has another better suggestion.

Here is the issue.

I have an electric water pump and need to trigger it through a relay (ground is the trigger). I'd like it on over 500 rpm all the time.

I'd also like to trigger another ground by boost.

Last is is possible to control the main engine fan without the factory PWM box?

Thank you.

Out of a curiosity would a simple wire to the ignition on switch suffice for your water pump?

I'll leave the ground trigger to tephra but i suspect perhaps the fuel solenoid could be shoehorned in.

Lastly I'm pretty sure that fan controller needs to be there in order to work. If i remember the ecu is sending a signal to it which it translates into duty/voltage.

Wow, Buschur is trying speed density now

Yes it would be possible,
1. You need to identify 2 free connected pins.
Either you choose some unused or some "useless" e.g. EGR.
For unused the code in ECU has to be identified.
2. It is piece of cake codewise afterwards.

The outputs that control the condenser fan can be used to control a non PWM radiator fan. This is how we do it for the earlier type Evos converted to 8 ECUs.

This is the two exact issues I'm working on resolving for my car, although I want something very different then "always on" for the water pump. I would prefer to mimic the operation of something like this electric pump controller:

http://www.daviescraig.com.au/Contro...0-details.aspx

The main benefit though is that the pump isn't running constantly. It only runs when the engine needs it which will reduce the electrical load on the battery and prevents excessive cooling. When it's well below the desired temp, it pulses the pump every 30 seconds to keep coolant circulated to avoid hot spots. The closer it gets to the set point, the more it circulates the water.

My intention is to use the stock main fan PWM output and module to control the aftermarket cooling fan and then use the A/C fan output to control a second PWM module to control the water pump.

FWIW, that controller will also control the fan if you want it to.

you can simply use the waterspray relay for boost contacts presumably your not using the ICS?
the pump and fan has got me.
what is the goal? looks like your trying to reduce amperage draw pre starting to help starting?

DB....you would be best to use the 9653 variant for SD as it is the most supported.

As for your fan...why not just wire in an after market temp probe that has a relay set with it (most fan companies make these). Then you can set the temp you want to have the fan kick on and forget about it.

For the water pump, maybe wire in an auxiliary switch like the domestic drag car guys do. Then you start the car, flip on the water pump and call it a day. You could even go so far as to make the pump come on with the ignition.

Running the pump full time is the best option, believe me, I've run it on and off and there are problems associated with doing so. Cycle the fan, run the pump.

Appauld, I like to keep the fan and pump off during cranking. Yes, a toggle switch is easy but also easy to forget and this isn't a drag car, so I like everything to work from the ECU.

I believe he wants it programmable through the ECU to increase tuning capability.

David, is this for the second fuel pump?

If so, I started a thread about that quite a while ago too hoping to get one of the experts to find the high/low pump control settings. It seems to be related to what is loggable on MUT9B bit.0. I looked a little at the code a while back but got side tracked with other things and stopped looking at it.

What he said

Seriously, this will do what you want. No need for a temp sensor and new circuit etc.

Any words Mr. Buschur?

Are any of these solutions ideal or unfeasible for you?
