No bump. Actually almost all my runs have an amazing spike using the VD.

^^^ there's your answer. VDR is allowing you so much smoothing that you can completely cover up that spike. I've never met a car that needed 16 smoothing, I think you're masking a problem and VD is showing it to you because it's not smoothing as much.

Well I lowered the smoothing to 5 and 10 to compare 2 logs using the VDR. Not covering anything. Here's the result.

that is not a normal graph for 5 smoothing. maybe your tactrix cable is crapping out or something. - post your log file here

what I've noticed is that VDR's smoothing is more powerful than VD. What I mean is that if you do 5 smoothing in VDR, you probably need 10 or more in VD and 10 is the max it allows. Brad is going to bump that upper limit up to 20. I like this because it'll allow more finite control over smoothing.

I agree, 5 smoothing in VDR shouldn't look like that, it should be smooth unless you have a problem. The fact that you were using 16 was alarming, again, i've never needed more than 5-10 in VDR.

I glanced at the log and there's multiple samples of the same RPM which is unusually fast and may be why it looks strange.

One rpm is from tactrix the other is my zeitronix.

I did a log with just what I mentioned before and it gave me a spike at the end. 1400whp spike.

if you're getting a spike trim some of the last rows by deleting them and saving the file. Run it through again, it may take a few tries to clip off the spike on the end. Brad is working on adding a slider to adjust this without having to do it manually.
