Whos cares about a smooth idle if it stalls every time with the ac on very irritating. Yes its a little lopey but it kinda cool says to everyone watch out I have cams!

Desired ISCV intial step position & Desired Idle rpm. Maybe a timing adjustment if needed.

Also driving style matters a lot too. Dont push the clutch in a 5K and just let the RPMs drop all that way. It will almost always stall when doing that, regardless of settings.

May I ask what timing adjustments you would recommend in the 0-40 load and 0-1000RPM BLOCK range? Would anything lower than 10* be too low, I am currently running 8 degrees in those high octane maps.

I understand that and I agree. I am just wondering if you need to add some additional timing/fuel in those load ranges also.

I've found that just the opposite is needed for smoother idle on MIVEC engines. You DO NOT want MIVEC messing with idle. When we rescale the rpm and loads it causes the MIVEC table to affect areas it normally wouldn't in stock form. Simply making the appropriate changes to the MIVEC table to not affect timing areas will greatly enhance your idle characteristics.

So don't mess with the MIVEC Intake Advance tables in those areas that would overlap with IDLE.

You all are making this WAY harder than it is.

Just make sure your MIVEC table had 0 for any areas that could affect idle. That is it....too easy.

This was the better of the 2 explanations you gave, easy and concise. Any thoughts on my ranges above would be appreciated! Thank you for your help.

Good advice but since the adjustments I've made it never stalls even when I push the clutch in at 5K...just my results yours may vary

That good to know. I think your adjustment included using my timing "trick"

Looks like it should work out just fine. You can add a little more timing to smooth the idle out a little (make it not so lopey)

thanks for your timing trick it seemed a help a lot with the recovery however with that it would still stall especially when pushing the clutc in at 5K. Only after i changed mivec did the stalling stop entirely
