Dyno Vision Software v1.0.0

**** Version 1.0.1 is now available *****
Please uninstall your previous version before installing V1.01
See the website for details of updates.

Hi,

As some of you may know, I've been working on my own software for a few months now. The software is called Dyno Vision. It is an evoscan (and in future other) log file tool which can calculate the Horsepower and Torque for you vehicle along with a whole raft of other features, including map tracer, performance calculations, Dyno graph comparisons and more.

I have written the software in Visual c# over the last 6 months in my spare time and during the last week or so have been testing the beta version with a few people from here and the uk. I have to thank these people for all the help and testing they have done to get me to this stage - V1.0.0.

The software is free to download and use. Here is the link to my Website i am currently working on.

http://www.dynovision.webspace.virginmedia.com/

My aim is to continue working on this software providing support, new features and updates. Even though my software has been tested, i doubt its bug free - if you find any issues or problems, please email me dynovision@virginmedia.com genuine bugs will be fixed for future releases.
Also, if you have any ideas for new features let me know.

Check the website often for updates and information

I hope you find some use from Dyno Vision and i hope you enjoy using it.

Here are a few screenshots to wet your appetite

I have to say that looks like it will be a great tool for the Ecuflash community. Do you have the ability to edit the bin files with this software and reflash the ecu?

Looks like too many settings. Too confusing looking.

Also, with all those setting and nothing on the chart to tell what smoothing was used, what drivetrain loss was use, etc, it can be easily manipulated and it wont be easy to compare with others because everyone will be using different settings.

although accurate to within a few horsepower, this isnt really a tool for bragging how much power you have. Its simply a tool for the amateur and professional alike to compare map changes to your vehicle.

Dyno correction and drivetrain losses are only some of the variables you can change to influence whp of a car - gearing, weight, content weight... hey you could even do the log down a hill !!

From all the beta testers feedback, confusing was never mentioned.

Hi

I have using this for few weeks now and it very close to all the other VD out there (+/-3bhp}, yes you can manipulate figures but you can do that with all software and dyno's.

I use this as a tuning tool, set up the base car setting do a few pulls and get a good base bhp then tune the car and see where you have made improvements.

I have tested some of the beta versions of the software and I like it a lot. It seems to function very well and offer some nice features that none of the current dyno programs have.

Using LiveMap to tune, I have been spoiled by realtime map tracing. This tool adds this map tracing to your dyno pull and traces the cells as your mouse through your plot. It's those type of features that are pretty nice and worth looking into.

Also, since many of my logs come from the LiveMap/DMA app, they have time in hh:mm:ss format and this program has been updated to support that too. While beta testing, the author seemed to update and implement little things like this very quickly.

So, at the very least, we have another tool to weigh against the others. I like having many choices. That way there is something for everyone and any tool that helps us is a good thing in the end.

You guys both dont understand what I am talking about.

YES, I KNOW that a dyno is a tuning tool and shouldnt be used for bragging. It should be used to check before and after differences.

BUT....people will post charts to BRAG about their number. Thats what they do. And first time someone post a Dyno Vision chart that is way higher then it should be, there is gonna be a messy thread.

And yes, virtual dyno chart can be manipulated, but thats why Virtual Dyno (& I think the new VDR) has ALL/MOST the info POSTED on the CHART. This is what Im talkin about.

Also, the program isnt necessarily "complex". Its just not as user friendly as other options out there.

EDIT: Since it does map tracing and total charting of tuning perimeters, then if you could make it log, then it would be a really great tool .....

AHHH and now I understand the whole "Flywheel power correction" stuff. Cuz you guys in Europe love flywheel number, which no one in the US uses.

This also supports what I said above. Some people are gonna be posting charts as Flywheel power and some as wheel power.

The shortcoming with this software is rooted in the fact that power is listed as 'bhp'. I may have said this a dozen times before, but I'll say it again:

Drivetrain losses are not constant across different power levels.

I can only imagine what my power curve will look like when I set drivetrain losses at a static 24%. The only thing that matters is power at the wheels, period, end of the story. Anything else is fantasy racing.

out of interest :

load a WOT pull into Virtual Dyno

Load the same WOT pull into Dyno Vision

obviously, ensure car selection is the same, weight and so on.

What correction factor and Flywheel power correction (%) do you need to make in Dyno Vision to make them as similar as possible?
