why is my boost so high?

I'm a rookie when it comes to tuning, but I know something is not right with my boost.

I have a evo 8, HTA green with all the supporting mods tuned on 93 to hold 33psi

My only boost leak is the TB shaft seals (now fixed).

The person that tuned my car has the ECU control boost which looks like the way EVOKID came up with in this thread....

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...-solenoid.html

Reading through that thread it says my boost load offset plus my boost desired engine load should add up to my load at a a given RPM - they do not!

After my tune it seemed like my turbo would spool ridiculously slow so I cranked up the preload on my wastegate actuator, and now it seems like it spools somewhere around 3500rpm, which I still think is kind of slow, but much better than 4K.

I did some logging on the car and look how high my boost is....47.9psi!!! starting from like 2.5k rpm and no knock, injectors are only working at like 60%

I dont have a wideband installed yet, but according to evoscan I'm at close to 14.7 afr which is off from what I am tuned at. My evoscan timing map is in between my high octane timing map and my low octane, which leads me to believe the ecu is pulling timing for some odd reason.

Like I said before, I am seeing maybe 3 counts of knock at max.
I'm starting to think that evoscan is logging an altered boost level that somehow gets manipulated by the ecu and is not the actual boost I am hitting.

I have a boost gauge but it tops of at 30psi so I can not tell if I am at 33psi or if I
am 47.5psi

Anyway here is a graph of what is happening, if you guys have any insight on this I will be looking forward to your suggestions.

anyway thats a 3rd 4th gear pull, the dip in boost is the BOV

Because your logging the stock MDP (MAP) sensor which doesnt really log boost (maxes out at 2-3psi) and the formula in EVOscan is wrong for it anyways..

To log boost though the ECU you need a JDM/EVO X MAP sensor or a OMNI MAP sensor and a minor ROM edit.

If you want to make the trip down to Lafayette, IN I'd be glad to look at it, but so far I agree with Boosted.

AHA
thank you sir, I knew there was something wrong with the way it is being logged in evoscan.

gotta find that sensor now and setup evoscan correctly

I would get that wideband installed and verify those afr. How are you getting your afr reading from EvoScan without your wideband installed?

ya I'm working on the wideband install as we speak. I logged afr with evoscan, but am starting to think that it logs it through the rear o2 sensor, if not a NB signal.

Im gonna mess around a little more once I get the boost sensor and wideband hooked up.

haha but ya once I get the little quirks worked out maybe the car will actually see 48 psi.... on e85

Thanks for the help guys
