Tephra for 3-plug ECU

I have a USDM 3-plug ecu (05 Evo8) rom id# 96940011. I'd like to flash it with a Tephra rom to take advantage of the extra features, but I'm not sure which Tephra version is best suited for this ecu?
Also, I want wire a clutch switch to activate both launch control & flat foot shifting, to what pin do I need to wire the switch to?

Thanks

Ceddy has done modifications for the VI ECU, you can't use the Tephra V7 on your ECU

Ceddys mods

Opps, missed you had an 8 ECU

foxbat, to clarify, You should have 4 plugs for an 03-05 EVO 8 ECU and 3 plugs for an 06/EVO9 ECU (USDM). No biggie though. Both units are just as versatile.

My ECU for some reasons is 3 plugs! I downloaded its rom image & found its an 05 USDM evo8 id# 96940011
Do you know the clutch switch pin number for a 3 plug ecu?

lol! I'm pretty sure someone has loaded a USDM 05 ROM onto your EVO 9 ECU heh. If you're having no starting/running/tuning issues then you have effectively tested a newer ECU with an older rom and that is good info for me! Can you post a picture?

Anyways,

Check this link out. The file is double zipped...so add a '.zip' extension to the file within the archive and extract again.

EVO 8 ECU pinouts are all over the place too. Just search through google.

Do you have an RHD car? if so it will have an 3 Plug ( 3 rows each ) Ecu. (Or at least the wiring loom has 3 Plugs )
If you have 4 Plugs at the ECU but only 3 in the wiring loom, than its an LHD car.
But it is not the same Ecu as the USDM / EDM Evo 9´s.
The 96940011 will be right for these UK/JDM Cars RHD

As evoredy said, it's possible that somebody had flashed an older rom into a newer ecu. One thing I'm sure of is that the ecu is USDM because its harness is LHD & has three plugs.

Thank evoredy for the link

Again, please post a picture of the ECU. Cell phone snap will be fine. Motherboard will be even better.

Seems like you don't have an EVO ECU at all. MH8206F is the USDM EVO 8 chip, but it does not carry a 3 plug form factor that I know of...correct me if I'm wrong.

SO...keep using the EVO 8 ROMS (256KB) and HOPEFULLY it matches the EVO 9 pinout. You will have to test things out or get the pinout from the manual of the donor vehicle.

Seems like someone has flashed a non-evo ECU with an 8 rom and called it good!

Good luck man.

The very same chip was used in a few Lancer Ralliart Ecus also.
These have 3 Plug locations ( Each plug has 2 rows of pins per plug )

The Evo 8 USDM/EDM Ecus have 4 plug locations, BUT 2 rows of pins per plug

The Evo 9 USDM/EDM Ecus have 3 plug locations, BUT 3 rows of pins per plug
The Evo 8 JDM/UK Ecus have 3 plug locations, BUT 3 rows of pins per plug

I am not talking about the wiring loom inside the car. I refer to the possible Plugs at the ECU´s

Please make some pictures.
