running very rich beetween shifts

OK guys, just like the title says, Im running very rich between shifts and it is causing a slight hesitation/bog when you get back on the gas. I am running a meth kit in the car but the symptoms occur even when the boost is low enough not to activate the pump. So I know its not methanol dribbling into the system.

The problem occurs when I give medium to moderate throttle, shift to the next gear and get back on the throttle. I am seeing drops in AFR as low as 8.9 and more commonly 9.xx-10.0. Once you are back on the throttle it hesitates before the AFRs catch and lean out again.

the car is a 2006 usdm EVO IX.

Also of some curiosity, my accel enrichment maps are a bit different then some of the others I have seen. For example. the tephra v7 map has slightly different values.
My mods are in my signature, and it is still a stock turbo, stock injector setup.

Thanks guys

with 8.1 AFR you are washing the oil off the engine and will see failure really soon

your system needs to be made to spray ONly when TB is wide open. It needs to shut off faster. Going that rich so often with methanol will destroy the WBO2 sensor fast.

As far as engine failure by cyl wash or etc, probably not likely unless your spraying to the point of stall. I have saved thousands of WOT logs with AFRs dipping into the 9s after a gear pull over the years

As far as the methanol is concerned it's the Labonte progress kit so
It starts to spray at 10psi or so and shoots full stream by 15psi. The drop in AFR is also occurring even when the methanol is not spraying. IE partial Throttle not enough boost to activate the meth...the car idles fine WOT AFR seems good. Just driveability is suffering right now

Do you have a vta bov?
Is your lean spool turned on or off?

So it's going rich without the methanol, different story. You need to look at your logs - IDC, airflow, WB etc, how clean is your air filter? Do you have a DV that recirculates. Check for leaks after MAF

Where's ur meth nozzle located on the pipe? Top, side, bottom? I had a buddy who's nozzle was on the side and backwards sucking residual meth from the line into the pipe.

ok its a stock BOV no VTA. lean spool appears to be enabled. The nozzle for the methanol is about 6 inches from the throttle body on the charge pipe and sprays upward from the 6 oclock position to keep it from dripping. the air filter could use a replacement at this point. did a boost leak test, and its pretty tight. i have to take a look at a fuel cut decel setting that may have been altered in an attempt to kill throttle hang...

Could be your stock BOV not working properly. I was having the same problem before I replaced mine. I don't really know the exact problem but I'm thinking maybe it wasn't closing fast enough or sealing properly after actuation. Mine would still hold boost just fine up to 26 psi though, and my AFRs were still normal at WOT. I only had issues during partial throttle/daily driving like you're describing. I replaced the BOV with another stock IX BOV and the problems went away.

I know this is old, but did you ever figure the problem out? I'm in a similar situation...
