Yeh i will mate,

i dont have my KnockBox on me i have to go back to the shop to grab them,

My fuel fittings are leaking atm so i have to pull the FPR back out and apply some more sealant then ill drive up grab the knockbox then have a play around.

I spoke to an engineer about it and he reckons that sometimes with large injectors at really low duty cycle i.e cruise they **** out and they can supply the wrong amount of fuel, i dont know how true that is though

 

If the injectors are large, they may not perform well with such low IDC's. Try lowering your base fuel pressure from 43psi to 38psi and retuning your injector scaling for it. This will allow for higher IDC's at low rpm. You can't go TOO low with the base fuel pressure either because some injector nozzle designs require a certain amount of pressure for proper atomization.


Also, where are you mounting your det can knock sensor? I've been trying to find a good spot for ours on the block rather than on the head.

Good trick i have found is use a strong double sided magnet.

Then mount the knock sensor on the magnet then you can slide your hand behind the intake mani and pretty much get it next to the stock knock sensor.

Failing that i use a bolt on the intake mani, which i know is on the head but i cant hear any differences, can still hear just as much from the head as the block.

Also good call in regards to the fuel pressure, you pretty much confirmed what the engineer said i was talking too, larger injectors do not perform at low IDC's, i mean there running 0.5% in said problem area..

 

Low IPW's would be more accurate...

most large injectors can perform down to 1.15ms ok.... so I doubt its that..

Im only hitting and holding 305load @ 4000rpm to redline

Im listening with Det Cans and cant hear any Det

Im asking because sometimes its hard to hear Det over Screamer pipe, i usually put the windows up and listen to it WOT cant hear any, just wanted others thoughts

Timing looks ok. Do yourself a favor, download software called 'CamStudio' and run a cable from the headphone port on the det can module to your laptops mic input. The software allows you to capture video screenshots of your laptop while also recording the audio. It's used for people who make online tutorials on how to do stuff on the PC.

Now you can have a video of your evoscan data (rpm and knocksum) while hearing the Det can audio simultaneously during playback when it's quiet. You may need to keep the headphone volume lows you don't max out your microphone input though.

When the car is on screamer its so hard to hear anything, now i can do pulls, then play it back and listen for it...

you could also play it back through an audio anyliser, that should also show a spike of noise which would indicate knock,

 

If anyone needs a 10mmx1.25-to-8mmx1.25 stepped bolt so they can install their 8mm thru-hole Det can knock sensor in one of the 10mm holes on the front of the block below the exhaust manifold, let me know. We had a machine shop make us custom bolts and we got extra.

If I was messing around with knock tables for an expensive engine...I'd rely on shoddy magnets for my tuning tools.[/sarcasm] lol. I'm not keen on that idea over a direct contact with the engine block with proper torque. That's just me though. I've grown fond of my track record of not blowing up engines on people
