The alignment of the valve, as it sits needs to be supported. Any idea what model you pulled this from? Ill have to fab up a support bracket which should take like two seconds since its so close. Looks like Im missing a bracket, but all the pictures that show a close up dont clarify if its an IX or not and the pphotos are too cluttered for me to tell.

It looks like you have Evo 5/6 SAS piping, once I had two different SAS pipings (5/6 and 7/8), 5/6 piping looked exactly the same fitted on Evo VIII engine.

Thanks! Ill keep on the look out for something proper, but this setup will absolutely work, and thanks again foxbat. We just need to test this stuff to get it working with the stock ecu, the pleasure of the eye can come later, for now its the pleasure of the heart!(actually kidneys ya know)

brake booster delete i made out of scrap aluminum. Needs a couple finishing touches. Not supposed to be pretty or any thing, just a functional delete. My RS is already with out A/C

Ah of course, I was thinking about ALS all wrong. If it actually fed boost through the engine, well, it'd be forcing you to accelerate (through increasing rpm) and not decelerate (this is obvious I know I just didnt see it that way). The purpose is to simply have the turbo keeping itself spinning rapidly and feeding itself through the fuel being dumped in at the air being drawn from the UICP through the mani. Wonder if any pressure was being built in the UICP? My instinct would say not much if any since the ALS effect is very mild compared to what you hear on a rally car.

Also something else of note which I pm'd ratsbud but will post here. There is the odd issue I noticed of what sounds like an off-note exhaust when going back on the throttle during the activation time of the ALS, almost like the sound F1 cars get around corners now they have cylinder deactivation. I wasnt sure what was causing it but something he said gave me an idea - sounds like the pressure the turbo was generating once I got back on the throttle is escaping through basically a large boost leak through the ALS piping into the manifold as well as through the engine due to the valve still being open.

I thought it'd disable itself when you get back on the throttle but it seems that it doesn't, at least on mine. I havent tested it a lot (it's too loud for city streets) but to me it seems like if you set the air injection time to be x seconds the valve stays open for that long even if you get back on the throttle.

Well when it happens acceleration is not what it should be. I think any gains from having the turbo spooled and ready to go may be lost due to the ALS piping boost leak until the valve closes again and it takes off. I think its pretty safe to say however they use ALS in rally/tarmac rally its not without serious modification to the system.

Anyway, see how you go.

Claudiumxg clued us in on the rally technology and it looks like an ecu that's even capable of world rally tyoe stuff is 5 digits. The motec autronic link vipec all have some abilities but they are lower level.

Yes we will see how we end up here though.

This particular SAS came from a JDM 6. the only difference is that the SAS valve is inverted on a JDM 9 to make room for the extra cam sensor.

Im thinking the piping is a different shape, elongated in some way or another. like I said though its not a concern for me. no matter which way I put the valve on, the piping has to get bent to fit that in there. Just pointing it out. I think Dolphin888 even posted that in a thread originally called the disassembly thread.

Gonna pull the oil pan tomorrow night and try to wrap up the springs and retainers portion .. then install the s2 camshafts. Probably by end of april be up and running. I have a couple other mods happening too. Booster delete and interior mods.
