I've been hypothesizing a way to overcome the pops and bangs style 30-40 load technique of -20 for a while. Pages infact. My entire alt map is -20 and I flipped a switch on decel. One way I figured was to use an alt maps switch and ground using the sas pin since its a low side switch .

This would give you negative only when the sas has been activated. Ie load > x for duration >x etc

In the decel fuel cut is below a certain rpm 3000 or 3500 on 8859, and you can make it run for ever on 8858.

Rpm clearly had an effect on energy. I lifted at 5700 and the end of that log is 3250.

JDM and 3 plug ecu correct but min of -10*C only unfortunately. I can set lower but when I log it -10 is all that's achievable. It's enough for a fair bit of noise but I doubt any shaft speed increase.

Apart from activating the injectors with the delay before fuel setting in ALS section, are you disabling fuel cut on decel also?

If I'm ripping on it, it takes until rpm drops below ~ 6500 range before fuel starts injecting on overrun anyways .

How do you disable it anyways? I don't know how..

The maf hz table I posted above was using 8859 which has no sas routine present.

I have an 8858 rom that I've been using I'm back on 59 for emissions reasons. I have two ecu's. the spare I'm wiring an internal path to activate alt maps when sas pin is on. Unless a guru can do that internally for me (code)

That would be cool to have it auto Alt map when sas is on

I'm not sure what stops the sas routine, be it delta tps, load increase, or if it even stops at all and just runs the timer out.

If load has something to do with it it could complicate things a bit.

best results i have found base the sas routine off a combination of TPS, engine load (MAP) and rpm.

Hrm I'm going to attempt the internal ecu mod. In order to have maps for the sas. . . . Spare ecu is on the bench with the map harness. Aye.

Wait a tic, I don't understand if the circuit I want to create is even safe.

What happens to my 3.2v output if i disconnect the ground ( ie sas pin off )

Standard jot harness

This car
and sounds pretty badass on decel and is running ALS on idle, and it's only running factory ALS hardware. It seems this is enough for ALS, but the ECU just can't control it/add enough fuel for long enough/allow enough neg timing.

Cyclic idle seems to be employed doesn't it? The idle appears to be a little off normal in any case.

I wouldn't take it's presence as an indicator of function.

I am more curious of their set up though.

I believe from sound they have an idle air source post throttle pre engine also or instead as sas does nothing to idle rpm. The air doesn't see the combustion chamber only the exhaust mani .

Do you know these people?

no I just stumbled upon it. It's group N so hardware is stock, but I believe they're allowed aftermarket ECU's. It's a high idle with ALS enabled, but doesn't sound to me like rotational idle.

Gotcha I remain skeptical of idle working I think in the first 3-400 posts claudiumxg covered how and when sas works very well even in wrc cars

Grn cars use a throttle stop. The sas is homologated for gr a.

I've heard they tap the throttle stop for a set screw grn

I'm gonna try the gr n method when I get the vipec

After all with no sas air I've shown increase in fresh air intake across the board. Ie turbo shaft speed. .. That's a good start! We need to work alt maps on a maf rom so load will kick us into open loop.

I come a long with ambition and stupidity to pursue this but no one else wants it anymore FMFL ! Haha .. I do!

they use an aftermarket ecu , its uses the stepper motor for extra air instead of throttle kicker
