I would really love something like this. I could mount a little monitor somewhere in my car and hook my Droid up to it via micro HDMI.

Check this out!

"The MK802 features a 1.5GHz AllWinner A10 processor, 512MB of RAM and WiFi connectivity. The AllWinner A10 is an ARM Cortex A8 CPU with a MALI400 graphics processing unit. The device comes pre-loaded with Android 4.0 and features an HDMI output that is capable of 1080p decoding, two USB connectors (a micro USB port and a regular port with USB host mode) and a microSD card slot."

Also, there are external touchscreen monitors that work with Android! They use USB for touch and HDMI for video

Subscribed for sure this is an awesome idea....lmk when it's out I'm running an HTC one x and would like plug n play options to view certain parameters in realtime datalogging. Preferably using USB but either way I'm not picky. Good stuff.

Jeff did some successful testing for us today. Although the usb drivers dont appear enabled on hardly any samsung nexus or galaxy androids. and not many devices are rooted, and not many devices are 3.0+ android open accessories compatible.

so I might have to make a USB OTG cable that is compatible with openport 1.3U and openport2.0 and Android 2.1+ compatible and compatible with all non-root devices.

Also here is where the updates will be posted... its easier for me to put screenshots through microsoft word to the wordpress blog via copy and paste.

Would you think about releasing it before you set it up for 2.1+ and non-root? Maybe as beta status?

What about the bluetooth solution? When I tried something a long while back, I had Bluetooth working. Is it a speed issue?
