evoscan navigator help

I purchased an evoscan navigator gps unit. I recieved my tactrix this weekend and when I connected everything (tactrix to obdII port and then usb to tactrix to evoscan unit) i noticed the evoscan unit said openport 2.0 not detected. I double check all of my connections.

I also tried out evoscan2.9 on my laptop and that worked fine. It connected and everything worked.

Do i need to change anything in the gps unit? i changed the connection to openport 2.0 can obdII and saved the settings before connecting everything which is why Im wondering why it didnt detect the open port.

I also am using the obdII extension cable i purchased from evoscan.com and when I tried the laptop it was not used.

yes, you need to upgrade the sdcard program files to EvoScanPPC v2.5 from the www.evoscan.com website. It comes with a usb to sdcard adapter so just unzip the zip file to the f:\evoscanppc\ folder. If its a full zip file, then make sure you move or rename the ecisting f:\evoscanppc\ folder first. F: might be different depending on what your sdcard appears as in my computer when you plug it in.

ok I updated evoscan ppc from version 2.3 to 2.5. I backed up the old 2.3 folder just in case. I unzipped and overwrited that whole pocket pc folder and when I launched evoscan it showed me version 2.5. When I tested it this morning I noticed that it still is saying open port not detected. I know im so close to getting this working, any additional tips would be greatly appreciated.

I also seleted USDM evox GSR mode23

Do i need to have mode 23 enabled? i have a bone stock evo x gsr at the moment,

This has been happening to me as well. I've never gotten my evoscan navigator to connect to my car. I've kind of just given up on it and don't really feel like I can sell it to someone else cuz it may not work.

Yeah if you're gonna select mode 23 on the navigator you need to have mode 23 enabled in the rom you flash to your car. That might be your problem.

I enabled mode 23 and flashed it back to the ecu.

I tested evoscan on my laptop and it worked great. I tried again with the evoscan gps and no luck detecting open port 2.0

I tried EVOXCan still no luck

I don't know what else it could be. The whole point of getting the gps unit was to be able to monitor everything without the need of a bulky laptop.

If anyone has any other tips or suggestions it would be of great help.

Make sure all the usb wires are connected properly, and your data.xml is up to date for your rom version. I haven't had any connection issues for the last few updates of the evoscan nav software, the older versions were a lot more troublesome.

a quick update.

I found out my mode23 enable was messed up and it semi bricked my ecu. After unbricking it, I had golden create a new base rom for me with tephramods v1.

I also recieved a data.xml file from him that uses EVOXmode23USA .

I tested this out and it worked to detect the openport, but there were still a ton of issues half of the time it wont detect the openport the other issue is that boost and the other parameters wont display out on the nav unit.

Today I re-downloaded the evoscan ppc 2.5 version and replaced the existing one on the sd card.

I havent tested it out yet, but I plan to see if it works this evening after work.

From the limited use so far I really like the overall capabilities of it, i just need to dial it all in.

if you get a tune, mode23 would get enabled, and then you need the right data.xml file.

From another thread a new evoscanppc version is going to be released. I want to try that out and see if it fixes my non working parameters/readings.
