What boost/load level do you have in mind for that 17* ?

Well no matter what the mods, most people run at least 22 psi, or 25, or 28, but at high rpm the stock turbo will still taper off to 21-18 psi, hence my blanket statement for no more than 17* at 7k with around 11.0:1 AFR in my opinion. Some can run more, some cant. Im not saying that is law, just what I would recommend

mine is close to chets.

on stock turbo and 93 octane i end up around 215 load ~18.5 psi @ 7000 rpm. i run 16 degrees there. 17 was giving me occasional knock so i dialed i pulled it back to 16. i also target 11.4:1 AFR there however.

on e85, i still hit the same boost and load, only difference is i run 19 degrees at 7000 rpm and aim for 11.9:1 AFR.

i'm happy with my WOT timing, i am just trying to work on timing at peak torque, especially on e85.

^^ I had the same exact issue, except I'm on 91.

I'm at 16 degrees timing at 7k+, 19psi at 7k, 91 octane. Having 17 degrees in some of the 200/220 load tables around 7-7.5k gave me a blip of 2 & 4 counts of knock around there. Bumping it down to 16 fixed that right up, 0 knock throughout the range. I'm around 3 degrees at peak boost, going to around 4/6 at peak torque.

Will post timing map later tonight.

Is there anyone experienced enough I can send my timing map to VIA PM or e-mail or may I post it here? It is a tune through a shop, not one on this board and I will not say who, but I have some concerns.

Wow this thread is dead! I just thought I'd look for a X timing thread like we had for the 8s because I'm starting to get away with very high timing on my X. I'm on 93 with intake/exhaust/tubular manifold/FMIC/cams, stock turbo. Running 25psi I hit 250ish load at about 3000RPM and don't go below 220 load at 7500RPM. I've noticed that with lots of overlap in MIVEC and my S1 cams I can (and need to) have lots of timing. My spool area (2K-3K, 80-120 load) has very high timing compared to what I'm seeing here. Knock counts are the occasional 1-2. AFR are between 11.5 and 12.

Your car must make a butt load of torque with that kind of timing

Looks like the large overlap is changing your dynamic compression enough that cylinder pressures are lower which allow more timing.

2014 evo X

Not sure if this is good or bad. Just got a tune and the dude didn’t touch my timing. Peak PSI is 25lbs. I have it running low for the fact idk if he did the tune right. We swapped out almost everything from the engine bay... all he touched was the boost tables. So I’m worried about the tune itself and my car blowing up

...Uh, so uh, how does it run...?

Also, I'm surprised to see nobody has adjusted the load scaling.
I would recommend condensing the load cells below 100, have them increment by 20 instead of 10, and use those extra cells for fine tuning inside the WOT load range.

Please show the timing maps(HiLo) for 4B11T. For 91 octane.
Thanks in advance. I just can’t get rid of detonation.

Assuming your car has no mods and you can take a log by evoscan.(If not, you have to get an openport2.0 and evoscan. Also highly recommend to install a wideband o2 sensor.)

In case no one posts a tuned map for 91 Oct and you try to tune by yourself,

A. If you start with your current map:
1. Decrease the timing values of the knock area by 10.
2. Make sure the knock is gone.(If not, lower it further.)
3. When knocking disappears, gradually raise the values of the area to just before knock occurs.

B. Or it might be good to start with stock low octane timing map as the base map of the high octane timing map and gradually increase the timing.

Thank you very much for your response!
My car is a little different, the 4B11 engine is not turbo.
The motor is very similar to a turbo, it is specific for tuning. I just wanted to see the settings from 10 to 100% of the load, what the ignition setting looks like in the turbo version, and start with that. I have all the equipment, I have recorded many logs. But I still can’t set it up. The car either does not have traction or does not detonate. It already seems to me that compression does not allow the use of the octane number 91. Sorry to write in this thread, but I was already disappointed in the configuration of my machine.

Resurrecting this post to see if I can get some help! Took Evans performance Evo X tuning course and have been starting to tune my fully built Evo X. Was looking for some input for tuning the timing maps and wanted to see what you guys think of my current map setup for starting to do my first WOT pulls. Fully built bottom end, 6262 stock frame comp turbo, GSC S2 Cams+springs, open dump downpipe, ID1000's, 3.5 intercooler FBO Etc. 94 octane.

please be easy on me I'm very new and this is my first attempt at tuning! Idle, acceleration and drivability is dialed in. Just having some issues with tuning out knock/fueling at WOT.
