Communication error... mini battery voltage?

So, I am getting the communication error which usually is from low voltage.
I've installed a mini battery Braille B2317 and now I can't even ecuFlash to communicate after I run the car... (which is what I usually had to do to get it to work)

The only way I can get it to read/write to the ecu is to leave the car running.
Has anyone else ever have this problem?
Am I looking at any negitive effects to making ecuflash shut off the engine as it does its communication read/write?

Thanks guys.... I thought this is strange.

Yeah.... tried that of course first... let it idle no dice... than I drove it down the street and back 3-4miles and again, no dice.
Leave it running, it works.... voltage seems very sensitive.....

Had problems like this after about 2 years with my Braille battery. Switched to a Genesis and didn't have any communication problems afterwards. Starting the car is the short time fix that seems to work.

Been on the same Dekka 11.5 for 2+ years, I must let the battery charge for a couple of mins before attempting to flash. No big deal.

Make sure ground is good, battery is actually pumping out the proper voltage, etc.

OK, I guess my real question is for the time being, is there any negitive side effects to leaving the car running AS you start to read/write to the ecu?

I don't think you can Because it would be flashing memory while trying to read it at the same time ?

if you're doing that, might as well just turned the car off right before you read/write - should still have enoguh voltage at that point

Hooking up something as simple as a Battery Pack ( Available from a car parts store ) or battery tender helps with that issues.

I myself will be getting rid of the mini battery and install a full sized one in the trunk.

At this time, that's not going to happen, I just finished building my Evo making custom battery tray and brand new battery etc...... I'll probably check the voltage to see what's going on, I do have a battery charger... just seems strange that this would happen.

As said above, I hook mine up with a battery charger when I flash just as an added safety net. one day battery relocation for me!

Thanks for the responce, that should help... there is just something uneasy about it shutting the engine down by itself.

yeah I got caught once where I flashed the car before starting it on a cold day. Killed the flash halfway through and softbricked the ECU.

Now I always make sure the car is running and kill it by flashing.
