Hello all,

I removed my EGR valve, EVAP solenoids (completely removed meaning unplugged), vacuum lines, and installed a block off plate. I left the the FPR solenoid installed with vacuum lines and plugged in.

After I removed the the emissions items I started the car up and it idled fine, took it for a ride to check everything, and I was experiencing 9 counts of knock whenever I would apply any load to the car at all. The ECU would pull timing to no avail, the knock count would continue.

I reinstalled all the lines and emissions items and the car runs great again.

What did I do wrong?

Was that knock audible? Perhaps you left something loose after removing EGR, rattling around, causing a phantom knock.

 

No audible knock at all, I didn't hear any rattling either, maybe I will remove the emissions equiptment again and setup DETCANs to be sure. I did zip tie all harnesses away, and I actually removed all the lines and solenoids so I don't think anything would rattle.
