So just wanted to provide an update. I finally installed the Innovate Ethanol gauge, cheaper option than zietronix and more compact.

Regardless, wired it up to pin 64 on the ecu, flashed the rom I patched in my above posts, after copying my existing tune (maps) that had e85 and 93 octane.

Drove for 30 miiles on plain 93 with slowly building up the pulls while logging. Everything was working as expected, no bucking or stuttering and no lean conditions as far as i can tell.

I then filled up about 10 gallons of local e85, had about a quarter tank of 93 still left. Ended up with a blend of E56 roughly.

The interpoliation worked like a charm, full e85 target boost is 30psi and i was hitting about 26psi (93oct is 24psi) and the ignition map was spot on for interpoliation.

I will do some more logging and testing but I think its safe to run the SD2 patched rom with flex fuel.

NOTE: It is still requestID 83 to log ethanol the formula i used was x*100/255.

I will post this, but im legit not sure if this will work or if your engine will blow up. So i take no responsiblitiy for anything that might happen here.

There was another user in this thread that said he had a working 96531706 rom, not exactly sure what he did, and he did not post a link to the rom. You might want to message him to see if he can share the rom with you.

The only issue i noticed after patching the 96531706 phenem SD rom is that the MAT scaling table appears to have a few memory spaces that overlap with the FreeFuel settings. If MAT scaling isn't used in your rom then you might get away with murder but i don't know.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK WITH EXTREME CAUTION!!

I was expecting only the injector scaling tables to have differences but had the MAT Scaling show differences between a patched and non-patched roms. When i cloned the tables from the MAT scaling unpatched rom to the patched rom, it showed that all the settings for FreeFuel tables were modified as well.

That is a link to the user that states he as a tested working 96531706 rom with the FF patch. I would ping him and then compare the patched rom i provided.

It's in the first post I think but if it's like the evo 8 4 plug ecu, then pin 42.

the gta ecu looks to have something else in pin42 so I honestly dont know which pin it would be.

I patched the rom myself and came to the same conclusion that there is some overlap when patching 96531706. I wouldn't feel safe trying to use that rom.

I tried reaching out to the user in the link below but no luck.

Has anybody been able to successfully patch 96531706 with FF and is willing to share the file? I am suprised that no one seems to be running it despite being so popular.

Attached is a patched 96534706-v7 rom (SD2 3D VE) version. The same issue exists with the MAT scaling table overalapping with the FF tables. Again I am not sure if that is an issue.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

According to this post:

ast confirmed no memory overlaps exist in the 96534 or 96531 so im not sure if the MAT scaling thing is an issue.

did anyone is successfully running the flex fuel tune based on the 96531 rom? I'm going to start trying it next week and want to know if there has been any bugs or issues yet, my car is kind of picky with the roms, it doesn't like the 3d sd yet, so I'm doing the break in with the 2d sd and no flex fuel yet...

I've been reading a lot and it's hard to come by any info regarding either good or bad results...

See post 558 i made there's a rom attached there, afaik it should work as long as you don't mess with the MAT scaling tables.

As before I take no responsibility if things should go south for you. But others did the same patch it seems and didn't have issues, ast also said he didnt see any memory overlaps so it should "safe" to try.

See my other posts for injector scaling calculations.

I’m currently trying to test both the 2D and 3D VE versions for an evo 8.

Tried the 3D SD rom first but can’t get rid of the lean throttle tip in issue. I have done adjustments through some of the async accel tables but didnt really have improvements. And then I tried the 2D SD version, car runs much better and I don’t think there is any throttle tip in issues.

Please also know even without the freefuel patch I could always get the 2D to run right. However I have always had trouble with the 3D VE experiencing throttle tip in issue. If anyone has any tips of getting this “lean throttle tip in” sorted I can continue testing out the roms.

Thanks!

Just an update have spent hours and hours trying to get 3D VE to run right but cannot get it working. When adjusting the VE table it seems that the areas it needs to be adjusted is not right, and also have to run much lower scaling than the 2D VE version rom so its weird to me..

I have just gone with the 2D VE rom fully tuned WOT on E85 and now I'm currently experiencing a jitter at around 4k rpm. This is quite annoying especially when you are on and off throttle whilst on them spirited drives. I have tried richening and leaning out this area and nothing seems to work, the car seems as if it is misfiring in that spot. Jitter fixes 1,2 and 3 also activated, when I turn them off it gets worst.

Anybody else have ideas or have gotten their freefuel roms or 2D VE roms to work properly?
