Understanding Roms, using 88590715, should I change?
So I can certainly understand how to tune via ECUFlash and all of that, but it seems like my current ROM is a bit incomplete. For instance, I can't seem to adjust fueling based on coolant temp (car runs lean when cold and warming up), nor do I have any adjustment for tip-in enrichment.
I have a 2006 IX MR so am I limited to what ROMs I can use? I know there are some far more common ones out there but I don't know exactly what they are, nor do I know if I can use them. If I can use a "better" ROM, is it just a matter of copying my current ROM tables over to the new ROM?
Sorry for the newb questions, but searching for this kind of info hasn't been as productive as I had hoped. I appreciate any and all input. Thanks!
Todd

If you're making a switch to a different more popular rom you would just need to copy your current tables over to it, then give it a test drive to make sure all is good at cruising, then work your way up to a full throttle pull with a couple half pulls and roll on pulls watching boost and afr's.
I don't know how much the ix roms differ between each other but all the 8 roms I have tried on mine worked well. There may be a few hiccups or to, as long as you don't go straight out and do a wot pull you should be fine.
If you make a switch to a tephra rom it will require some work to get your current fuel and timming maps dial in on the big maps.
Hope that helps some.

Thanks Reaper! I'm on Tephra V7 now, I was just under the impression that other ROMs might be a bit more "complete" in terms of defined tables and things. I'm perfectly happy with how everything works and drives right now so I'd rather not upset the apple cart if I don't have to.
Evo IX hs a set of roms that is extremely well defined. Infact 88590715 is probably the most well defined of all the Evo IX roms. 88592715, or 88591715 are SD versions 3d and 2d respectively.
8858 is australian
8884 is jdm/eu
892 is an updated version of 8857 jdm gsr
theres some differences between jdm and other versions becaue of UK import, some grey some done by mitsubishi. this is the gist of it and being that there may be some errors, take a look at evoecu wiki and you can see more.
if youre running on a very well tuned rom now and are looking to make a step forward, you can give speed density a whirl.
youre limited to the 8xxxxxxx series of roms generally speaking there may be others that are IX with a different prefix.

Much obliged for the info! Good to know I picked a decent one to start with. I tuned SD on my DSMs with Link, but frankly I'm a bit intimidated by it on the IX with ECUFlash. I also don't really have any reason to dislike drivability or think it would open up any extra power for me. Maybe some day, just for ****s and grins

Your using the corect ROM. And its very very well defined and developed. Your issue is that your definitions file is incomplete or missing those table. All you need to do is add them to your definition file. No need to change ROMs.
