2012 map for 2011
Hello people,
Here is my situation, I used to have a 2011 evo x gsr with k&n intake ,exhaust, and a tune. Now i brought a 2012 evo x gsr. I was wondering if i can use the map on my 2012 with the same modification.

i dont think you can change maps like that with out bench flashing... you could just copy all the maps over from one to the other but every car is different even with the same parts installed so theres no telling if the car will drive 100% the same as the other one
ok... let me get this straight..
you have a 2012 evo x and you HAD a 2011 or still have it either way... you have two ECU's one being a 2011 and one being a 2012.
to DIRECTLY answer your question.. NO you cannot just flash a 2011 rom to a 2012 and expect it to work properly, and here is why..
inside of the ecu there are addresses that the car looks at and utilizes.. with these addresses things happen.. i.e. tps, when you push the pedal, the ecu gets the signal and does what it needs to do and transfers that information to open the throttle body accordingly ( since we are drive by wire) having a 2011 ecu with addresses that go to say the tps are say 0001, now with the 2012 ecu those same addresses at 0001 might go to injector pulse width ( for adding fuel, really the time that the injector is open adn closing.. but that isnt the point as of right now.. the point is that the addresses of each year and each rom are different, and you cant just go mixing and matching them with the hopes of getting them right.. the car could do simply weird things... or it could wig out.. or worse you could cause physical damage to the ecu, the car, car parts in the engine, or everything all together..
now dont be to down... there are some things you can do... like benchflash your ecu.. essentially downgrading the rom that is on the car.. from say a 2012, to your 2011 rom.. BUT that is a process. and that would be something that a more experienced tuner would have to chime in and talk about.. that is a little out of my leauge right now.
