2011 Evo X GSR - Beta map
2011 Evo X GSR - Beta map
Hey guys -
I just received my CobbAP in the mail from a member on the forums. I updated the firmware on the device and everything looks good.
I'm awaiting ETS intake, ETS Quiet V2 exhaust, and a grimmspeed EBCs from ETS. It's getting shipped to IveyTune where they'll be tuning my car. The car is currently bone stock.
With all that said, I have a 2011 Evo X GSR and I see that there's a beta map that was released for the car a while back - https://forums.cobbtuning.com/forums...volution-X-GSR
I downloaded the map "Stage1 93 v201" via the link above and it states the following: "Cobb Tuning, v201.00 -- Stage1 93 v201 - Intended for an otherwise stock 2011 Mitsubishi Evolution X GSR with a stock or cat-back exhaust, a STOCK INTAKE SYSTEM, and a STOCK OR KN INTAKE FILTER ONLY. 93 octane fuel minimum. Boost Targets: ~23.0 psi peak boost pressure tapering down to ~16.5 psi by the 7500 RPM redline, +/- 1.5psi."
Does anyone have experience with this map on a bone stock 2011 GSR or recommend NOT installing this on the car right now? If the consesus is to not bother, I'll just wait to get a protune by Ivey when the parts come in. Thanks!

Both the Stg 1 and stg 2 "beta" maps ran great for me. While I just had intake and exhaust.
You do NOT want to put that Grimspeed EBCS on your car untill your ready for a pro tune. Those maps were made for stock boost control...
No big deal that thing takes like 5-10 mins to install... so pop it on right before driving/sending it to get tuned and just stay out of boost if ur driving it

Thanks for the reply James. So purely out of curiosity, I loaded the beta map as I mentioned before on my car. I drove it for about 5 miles staying out of boost and then went on the highway and other main roads for about 25 miles. I did some data logging as well.
I can say that the car definitely woke up a bit. It's more responsive and I actually feel it pull further up the RPM range versus before it would fall flat on its face before redline. I'm going to check out the data I logged from last night later on when I get home but the map seems fairly solid. If I have any problems, I'll just uninstall and wait till I get protuned. Once again, this is on a bone stock 2011 Evo X.

Do the "knock sum test" and make sure you are staying under 3 count. Other then that, unless you have a AFR gauge, just stay responsive of your car, and enjoy it. I ran the Beta on my 2011 X until i got my HFC for about 6-7months no issues.
I haven't really checked that out but from the logs I've taken, I haven't really seen it go over 24. I assume you mean Load Boost/Fuel?
If so, sometimes the logs get pretty goofed up in terms of the reading. Sometimes it's fine and reports 10-20 and others it says 100-200...not sure what that's all about. Probably just a bad reading.

GrimSpeed 3port boost controller works the same as the Cobb ebcs. Flash the Cobb ebcs with ur GrimSpeed installed.
There r no mechanical or electrical difference between the two. Only difference is the name and colors of the two.
Just make sure ur MAF scaling is right and ur good to go.
Post the log.

The car is and will stay BONE stock until I get it professionally tuned by Ivey. All I have right now is the the beta map installed above and that's it.
It's running fine right now and most of the logs I have seen have been good in terms of knock. I'm honestly not beating the crap out of the car on a daily basis as I just want to wait until I get the tune from Ivey. I'm still waiting on ETS to ship my parts.
I'm hoping to get a tune in the next 3-4 weeks.
