Tuning Evo789 ACD

It would seem that there is growing interest (at least in the US) in ACD tuning/flashing, so I will make a contribution.

Edit 07-01-2014: Revised xml with map label corrections and improved scaling.

Edit 08-01-2014: Revised xml with Snow and Gravel maps swapped, Pump Limits added and enhanced Tuning Notes.

Edit 25-01-2014: Revised xml, lots of revisions and additions.

Edit 09-02-2014: Revisions to 401702 xml, showing current work/thinking on AYC Control. Not complete by a long way and the scalings are speculative. The other posted xmls have not been updated yet.

Some general notes on ACD Module Flashing:

You will need a Tactrix OpenPort2 flashing cable.

You will need to make a bench flashing cable.

There is a checksum required, which is included in the xml shown.

Evo8 and Evo9 can use the same ROMs ie are interchangeable with the testing I have done so far.

Evo7 ACD Modules run a different line pressure so a DTC is raised if you flash an Evo7 ROM into your Evo8-9.

EVO-789 ACD MODULE BENCH FLASHING HARNESS

ACD pin 13, +12V

ACD pin 25, Flash

ACD pin 31, +12V

ACD pin 35, OBD pin 7

ACD pin 42, ground

OBD pin 4, ground

OBD pin 5, ground

OBD pin 16, +12V

How do you pull or flash the ROM to the ACD?

That is partially covered in the break through reading flashing acd thread.

Merlin thanks !!!

I have the acd rom from evoscan and a c1 rom. They're for a 9 and 8 respectively but I checked addresses and they were the same for what I checked.

Good to confirm they are interchangeable!

Just for easier referencing, can you point us to the thread?

And is there a tutorial with pretty pictures for us more technically challenged folks that can't quite picture what to build from Merlin's pinout?

OBD2 pinout

Might look in the first post, there is a schema that shows basically how to do your bench harness.
For ACD pinout here it is:

while I'm happy with the performance increase in full throttle applications (80%-100%) with my Weir 12 plate rear at the track, the diff(s) still don't lock as hard as I'd like during partial/maintenance throttle (~40%-70%). I'm currently looking into ACD tuning for next year and very interested in where this is going.

thanks for sharing

Thanks for sharing Merlin.

Just a side not to yours, in my testing, I've found that the Evo 8 and 9 ACD ecu's are not directly interchangeable. Putting an Evo 8MR/9 ACD ECU into my JDM Evo 8 GSR has resulted in the 3 lights once moving.

I believe there is a way to resolve with with a wiring mod, but i have not tested it as yet.

Specifically i'm referring to ID 401403 (JDM Evo 8) and swapping to a 401404 or 403100 rom ID.

I believe you can use 1.3u cable as well Merlin. I have seen posts where people have used the 1.3u cable.

This set is for the USA Evo9 ACD Control Module, 401702 ROM, Case ID 8631A028.

All the ACD Control Modules I have seen have the FA chip, which the 1.3U cable wont flash. But Its a big world, who knows what else is out there.

Edit 7/1/2014: Revised xml with map corrections and some included tuning notes.

Edit 8/1 2014: Revised xml with Snow and Gravel maps swapped, Pump Limits added and enhanced Tuning Notes.
