I have an R cable, purchased within the last 12 months, and it has a single pin in the 12-pin white connector.

We assemble them from the exact same 100% components for both 1.3R and 1.3U, yes 100% means, same pins, and same plugs.

using the usb plug, there is a special ascii key code programmed into the inside of the 1.3U cable. this key allows the 1.3U cable to work with EcuFlash, this license key adds an extra $40USD to the cost, and is used to advance the research and development of ecuflash versions.

The 1.3R cable can not be used with ecuflash, but can be used for reprogramming Evo7/8/9 using other software such as EvoScan v2.7, and/or EvoScanPPC (gpsnav windows mobile pocket pc).
