Tactrix EcuFlash 1.44.4503 and Windows XP

Does anybody run this constellation? I can install it and the openport drivers are also installed correctly, but when I try to open it, it just crashes without any error message. (Just asks if I want to send a report to Microsoft)

I tried version 1.42 and it runs fine... but 1.42 is pretty old though.

- compatibility mode doesn't have any effect
- running it as Administrator also doesn't solve the issue

Cheers
Sebastian

What features are you looking for in 1.44 that 1.42 does not have?

nothing specific yet,
the changelog just reads as 1.44 is the more complete and cleaner version. And I've been using it until I bought this nostalgic umpc

Okay just wondering because on some of my laptops I still use the older versions and they work just fine to flash my car, but mine is a IX so if you have a X then that might be the reason why you need the newest version.

Well in that case I should be fine with a looooot older versions... driving a VI
I got 1.44.4347 running now, but since it is a beta I wonder if its better to stick with 1.42.
I also wonder what they messed up with .4503 so that it crashes on windows xp.

Hello Sebastian,

When you get the notice that an error has occurred, does that Window's dialog give you the option to expand the message for more details about what caused the problem? We've had that version out for a while now and you're the first person with an issue against XP. We had one other person with a Windows 7 issue, but the problem was with a Microsoft DLL.

Hi Mike,

it says the error occured at offset 00012920
I attached the detailed windows report as txt.

There is no event in the event viewer.

if I am really the first one to report a problem, maybe it is computer related. I tried different Windows XP Versions and also in Safe Mode the error occurs... so it should not be driver related... but maybe hardware?

I am trying to get it running on a very old Japanese Kohjinsha SA1F00 UMPC.

But as stated the latest beta I could get my hands on (1.44.4347) runs well.

Cheers
Sebastian
