How to hook up an aftermarket Tach

I am having a tough time with this one, Running an evo 8 ecu in one of my other cars, if I hook up the RPM detection directly to my autometer tach it does not work. I have a tach adapter that I want to install that interrupts the coil + side , however since I have denso coils with built in ignitors, I am having a tough time figuring out where this needs to go .

Can someone who has ran an aftermarket tach with a stock evo 8 ecu, kindly help

thank you in advance

tried that and it didn't work, the voltage output is too small

Will have to use the autometer bump up box then. I used that output for a dakota digital converter box on my racecar, worked fine, but I guess your tach doesn't like the signal.

This is driving me nuts!!

here is the set up, made a complete harness from scratch that mimics an evo 8 engine harness, the car is using denso coils with the built in ignitors.

Things I have tried:
Bought a new Proform shift light and wired the signal wire of this to Pin 58 ( TACH output) and this did not work ( the voltage coming out of the tach out put is very small

Installed a AUTOMETER tach adapter, where I interrupted the coil + side and then ran the signal wire to drive the autometer tach : this did not work either

tried two different tachs and they didn't work

Wired the autometer tach directly to the signal output from the ecu and this didn't work either.

Someone please help before I burn this car down
