getting knock (spool, lift)?

Hey guys so ive been fighting this problem forever. I have an 04 running 9417. Evo 9 turbo, gsc s2 cams, stock injectors, full bolt ons. I get knock from 2500 - 3500 anywhere from 70 - 160 load. Wot is good. It mostly happens in the same area but never the exact same. I tried pulling timing and not much changed. I noticed it happens mostly when i change gears or let off the throttle. Fueling seems to be ok. Dont mind my fuel map. That was me experimenting with some things but fueling is good. I run constant open loop. I dont know what else to do to this thing. Those logs in the picture were taken today but sometimes the knock counts are worse. I can stop logging and start again in the same session and counts will be completely different. What do you guys suggest?

You may have something rattling around under the car or metal that is hitting when the motor mounts move.
This used to happen when I had a 3" DP and left the cross braces on the front subframe.

Do you still have the balance shafts in the engine, or were they removed?

Still have the balance shafts in the engine. I will check around to see if something may be rattling. I know a while back I checked under the car and all was good but I’ll check again. I have tq solution mounts so there shouldn’t be much movement but I’ll check.

Any metal that is vibrating/rattling could cause false knock.
Good luck!

YeH I’ll look around but how do I make sure it’s false?

What is your AFR at that region? It seems to me that you need to scale the knock sensor a little bit on that region. The timing seems fine to me.

I’ll check the data log but should be in the 12 I think. I pulled timing back in that area and I hated to do it because it seemed low to me but made no difference. I will check the car over again to make sure nothing is rattling and if not then has to be false. Idk

I will send you my screenshot for the knock sensor calibration to your email. I had the same issue at very low boost.

If the timing made no difference, and your fueling is correct. The way it jumps around like that, I would say it's false.

Bump up the knock filters slightly in the mid range. Retest.

Make sure you don't have the downpipe smackys like stated above.

Yeah I want to check again but I checked and nothing was hitting. I grabbed dp and moved it around to see if something hit and nothing.

Not just your downpipe. Any metal that may be loose and picked up by the sensor. For me, my downpipe occasionally hits my front crossmember.
hopefully you get it sorted soon. Gremlins are no fun.
