Looking at the link below for my stock ECU rom, however I dont see any 2015 gsr 5speed. This is not the final edition just a standard GSR. Would i just use the 2014 rom? or is the 2015 in a secret place?
That where my dilemma starts, the ECU was toasted in a fire. I will be trying to revive it via bench, but it may not happen. I replaced all wiring and got a replacement ECU, when I plugged it in I got and ETAC error (used ECU had different vin) so I recoded the ECU vin to match my vin. The error went away, programmed the key but I get a no start. I am assuming the used ecu may have a modded rom or different one other then my vehicle, the radiator fans dont come in until Wednesday so I dont know if the fans go full speed indicating an ECU issue. If you have any other suggestions please let me know. Picture shows what I am working with.

No battery is in the trunk, I think the generic demon eyes that were installed was the culprit. As the source of the fire appears to be at the driver headlight(which was completely gone. I was able to recover the ECU (at least I think it is) to atleast get a rom. But EVOSCAN saving doesnt know the definition. Is there somewhere I can get details for that?
Keep in mind I got the car like this, I so I dont know for sure what happen. Just guessing with the fire pattern.
I'm far from an expert on ROMs
I would imagine you will need the ROM ID number
Once you can find that , you stand a fighting chance of finding an .XML file to match it
My guess would be if you have the rom file downloaded from the EVU I would e-mailed it to a tuner
Eg merlin.tuning@gmail.com
And ask him as he does a lot of work on RA and Evo ROMs.
If he can't help I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.
Are you trying to revive the car from the fire and get it back on the road?
My concern would be the damaged metal frames that occurred due to the heat from the fire.
There was some serious heat there for sure.
I was able to get a rom from the toasty(burnt one) ecu, it appears the identifier is59580006. which correlates with a 2015 gsr. I found the definition file and going to try and read the rom again. Still suffering from a no crank no start, but the relay is clicking. I will be diagnosing the starter alternator assembly wire soon.
As far as the car goes, yes I plan on reviving it and get it back on the road. Had my body shop guy look at it, they did their test and told me there was no steel or frame compromise to the car and the pressure test (or something similar dont know that name) match up from left side to right side. So the car is sound.
You got a lot of work Infront of you for sure , there will be a few wiring harness that are destroyed also
Plus all the damage under the bonnet and all the parts to replace
It.msy be more cost effective to get another body and reflsdh the ECU and sell this off as scrap maybe?
Its not all that bad most of the heavy work it done. See the pictures for the progress, plus I got this quite cheap. I was thinking of swapping shells, but in the US everyone wants gold for these Evo's. The two harnsess that were toasted was the chassis harness and the engine harness but have already been replaced and quite cheap too. This may be the cheapest evo in the US right now. Only thing I got left is trying to find out why she doesnt crank, maybe immobilizer but I already programmed the key and the starter relay clicks on. before beginning work toasty ecu sanded rusted primered and rigidity check grey primer replacing chassis harness interior complete removed burnt pieced from old ecu to get a read front end whole shot another picture of chassis harness and old ecu.
Wow!
Man that's that's awesome work you have done there.
Great job , keep it up
My only suggestion I can give you is to once it is all working again to try a 6B31 outlander V6 throttle body on it.
You will need to modify the ECU rom or the car will throw a cell
It's a 65mm TB and it should bolt up to the inlet manifold as the holes line up for the RA manifold as well as NA.
This will give you some extra ponies under the bonnet for quite an inexpensive $ outlay.
Sounds good mate, I will keep everyone posted. I will probably create my own thread so I can stop hijacking this one. As soon as I get it running I will definitely try the outlander TB, Appreciate the talk and the help and keep an eye out for my thread so we can see it to completion.
