Idle timing 2.4LR

Hey guys, having swapped the 2.0 liter for a 2.4 LR with balance shaft delete and harder motor mounts my sense of when the engine is running smoothly has diminished some. Would we expect to have a nice idle around 10° adv and 1200 rpm or so with s2's? Thinking I can smooth it out by idling around 12.5-13.0 also.

Thx

With those more harder motor mounts you can kiss smooth goodbye lol. Everything shakes and vibrates in my car with the poly mounts. You should be able to smooth it out with some tuning and those s2 cams they idle pretty nicely. I have 288s and my idle is pretty rough at 1300.

Hard mounts a pretty rough no matter what you do. An upgraded harmonic dampener will probably help a little if you don't already have one.

Rolled the timing back to just 5° then dampened the Idle Stability Control. Rpm 1100. Need to come down on the throttle blade (full blown 70mm) to get the ISCV back in range.

It's as smooth as it's been so far. Dropping the blade some probably will allow me to smooth out the idle more by making a bit more vacuum and whisker more timing. I think that's how it works anyways lol
