1 Byte Load More Accurate??

Here is an interesting one for you guys.

I have done so much research and experimenting on making my car as powerful and reliable as possible, learning something new everyday. I am by no means an expert but I do have enough understanding and experience to confidently tune my Evo. That being said I have also seen how many people have discussed the 2 Byte mod and how it is much more accurate than 1 Byte. It's put me in a confusing position where I don't know if there is something drastically wrong with a setting somewhere or I am just plain doing it wrong. I can't seem to wrap my head around it

When first beginning to grab onto the tuning ropes, I always adjusted tables and parameters by using a 2 Byte data log. I could never add or subtract fuel in the places I wanted to, same goes for timing and various other things. I spent weeks maybe even months banging my head against the wall and trying to diagnose a knock issue but I couldn't seem to be able to do anything about it. One day for fun I decided to pull up every type of Load log and compare and adjust to each different one. The one that happened to make changes was the 1 Byte Load. I have been adjusting from that ever since and I have had pretty good luck with it so far.

Is anyone able to explain why this would be? I just want to have an understanding as to why it is like this and not the other way around. Maybe 1 Byte is the way to go? I'm not sure, What are your thoughts? This has been a thought that has crossed my mind for many months.
