Ecuflash wont read CE Lancer
Ecuflash wont read CE Lancer, tried many things and read alot but not getting anywhere, need some advice and help, using open port 2 and extra mitsubishi comms cable.
Hey mate, good to see another Aussie on here.
I was in the exact same spot a few years back trying to get CE Lancer / Mirage ECUs tuned with ECUFlash, and quickly realised most of the info out there is aimed at the newer SH-based Evo ECUs. Hardly anyone had touched the older H8 “black boxes,” so it was a lot of trial and error on my end.
After a long battle I’ve now got a proper working setup. Essentially, I’ve built a custom Speed Density ROM that brings in all the advanced Evo + CeddyMods features, but tailored specifically for the 4G93 SOHC + Turbo conversion.
What are you aiming to do with your build, and what year/model/engine are you working with?
Most AUDM ECUs use the MH7203FA CPU, same as Evo 6 TME. if you select that under “vehicle type” in ECUFlash, it should read without issue. Just make sure you save your first read as a backup .bin before changing anything!
If you can upload your ECU read (.bin file), I’ll happily take a look and point you in the right direction on how to actually start tuning it.
For reference there is a super basic definition file floating around for the 4G93 (ROM ID: 23720002), but it’s very limited. Nothing public exists for the 4G15.
Unlike the Evo defs, which the community built together as “open source,” most of the Lancer/Mirage defs were made by professional programmers and are considered intellectual property, and kept behind closed doors (or sold).
Since a lot of people have asked me about 4G15 tuning, I’ve started building a proper AUDM 4G15 XML definition from scratch (ROM ID: 23420003). It’s a huge task, but I’m making steady progress, I should have it tune-ready in the next few weeks.
At the end of the day, what you want to achieve with your build will dictate which steps you’ll need to take, and how difficult / expensive it ends up being.

Hi mate, once I opened the ecu and looked at the number I was able to use the correct vehicle data and read it but no definition file was available. My customer is using this vehicle as a test bed before he completes the project with another car and wanting to make sure it can be done. Any help would be appreciated as I got onto a company who said they could make a definition file in about 5 weeks and 500 bananas but nothing yet.
Errol
Not sure how to get my file on here as it wont let me upload it.

You should be able to upload .bin, .hex and .xml files to this forum directly, when you reply press the attachment button.
if not you can host it on a public dropbox or google drive folder then post the link here.
i have attached basic READ ONLY .xml files that will allow you to at least save the ROM (save as .bin)
STEPS:
-Download those 2 XMLS and drop them into your Ecuflash/rommetadata/Mitsubishi Folder.
-Open ECUFLASH then Select Evo 5 (F) or 6.5 TME (FA) Vehicle Type
-Read ECU button
-Unknown ROM Popup - Select COPY FROM DEFINITION
-Select either one of the Definitions i have uploaded, (match to your CPU type)
-The ROM ID will now be visable and will then become save-able as a .bin file
When you are able to upload that here and i can help you more

Assist me brother
Hey oliver was just trying to message you privatley but wont let me iv been looking for this 4g15 def file for tuning my turbo setup for almost a year now. To the point iv made an attempt to write an xml file myself alongside a USDM mirage definition but that side of things is still black magic to me and i have failed miserably given the memory models are slightly different. Also i dont know my *** from my elbow when looking at hex code!
if you could get in contact with me any way please do! Would be more than happy going back and forth testing stuff as i am

@Tunerboy60 @Shidsubish4g15t send me a PM or reply to this message if you need help
I have started building a xml defintion file for the AUDM 4G15 Manual, but i have no access to a vehicle with that engine to use for testing currently, as my fleet are all 4G9x..
Do you guys have the equipment needed to remote tune?
good laptop, tactrix op2, evoscan, wideband afr gauge and basic understanding of this stuff? if so maybe we can try chip away at it remotely..
(unless someone in perth wants a discounted tune and can let me borrow their car?) haha
Note about the clone tactrix cables as someone above mentioned them:
They are known to be buggy and can brick the ecu / fail after the first flash, highly recommend you use them for data logging only - unless you have a spare ecu your willing to sacrifice to test it before making any major changes!
