External Wastegate - Stock BCS setup

Hi

Need some help setting up my External Wastegate and stock BCS so that I can control Boost via Stock ECU with ECUFlash...

1. Whats the right way to conect up the vacuum hoses?

2. Do I need to make an major changes on the ROM?

Want to hold 23psi.

Any tricks or tips?

thanks
Sal

just set up like stock pretty much i would lower all your duty cylces etc. just to be safe since the stock wastegate actuator is set to 11psi your external is probably higher so u dont want a crazy spike.

Hey Teph, Its all installed already using the external wastegate, base pressure is .8bar...

Want a bit more, so I have some options:

Get the stock BCS to work
or
GM 3port
or
MBC
or
EBC

I'm running the 3076R and a 44mm WG with a hallman MBC. .9 BAR spring. Holds 24-25psi like a line on a sheet of paper. Thats the beauty of a external wastegate. Simplicity.

Similar setup / stock engine / HKS 272's. 850's Stock ecu.

\Cool Dustin - you have a very similar setup to mine...

Gona try the bleed valve setup later today...

But MBC seems like a very easy solution.

Ok Im thinking as a full term solution - I am going with a: Greddy Profec B Spec II

after I'm done messing around with the Stock BCS of course...

I would recommend a GM 3port for an external using ecu-boost.

They work great and work much better than a MBC when tuning to the edge in my experience. However they do make the external sound slightly different than a MBC.

NO NO NO!
That thing is a POFS!

IMO I view it this way;
You either want the simplicity of being able to crank a knob and dial in your boost almost mindlessly easy.
or~
You go with the stock ecu controlled boost with a GM 3 port solenoid and allow for some more flexibility but also some more seat time getting it dialed in.

The profec B should be your last option just short of shoving your spleen into the engine bay to control boost. Mainly because they are crap. And the additional cost of the controller (when the same can be done for the cost of the GM solenoid on the stock ecu) is completely unwarranted.

I prefer a cranky knob - *done* (mbc) mainly because there are other aspects of the car I would prefer to spend my limited time paying more attention to tuning.

But folks such as razorlab have got the EBC / stock ecu thing down to a science.
So if you want to go the EBC route... do whatever he says.

Trust me.

3 port FTW, Greddy EBC is a waste IMO been there done that

So there's no hope of getting the stock BCS to work at all and the next best option in a GM or Perrin 3 port is I ynderstand correctly...

Ok Ok so I'm just worried about this resistor story and burning out the driver on my ECU...

Where can I order a GM 3 Port from? Are they available on eBay? Don't mind paying a bit extra for a Perrin for peace of mind...

Thanks
Sal
