Is it safe to customize your ROM INFO in the xml..
Hi folks,
I'm wondering if it's safe to customize your own rom info on the xml file. For example i'm using an evo 8 box in my evo 6:
<romid>
<xmlid>96420008</xmlid>
<internalidaddress>f52</internalidaddress>
<internalidhex>96420008</internalidhex>
<make>Mitsubishi</make>
<market>USDM</market>
<model>Lancer</model>
<submodel>EVO8</submodel>
<transmission>Manual</transmission>
<year>2004</year>
<flashmethod>mitsukernel</flashmethod>
<memmodel>SH7052</memmodel>
</romid>
Is it safe to change it to the following for example:
<romid>
<xmlid>96420008</xmlid>
<internalidaddress>f52</internalidaddress>
<internalidhex>96420008</internalidhex>
<make>Mitsubishi</make>
<market>Test version</market>
<model>Lancer</model>
<submodel>Evolution VIII</submodel>
<transmission>Manual</transmission>
<year>2004</year>
<flashmethod>mitsukernel</flashmethod>
<memmodel>SH7052</memmodel>
</romid>
Thanks!

The following can be changed without issue:
<make> <market> <model> <submodel> <transmission> <year>
The others you shouldn't mess with unless you know what your doing.
<xmlid> <internalidaddress> <internalidhex>, can cause your rom to use the wrong definition or not find the definition. Or cause xml "loops".
<flashmethod> <memmodel>, will cause a bad read or not read at all. On the H8 Evo5/6 ecus, you can brick the ecu with the wrong <memmodel>. Not sure if the Evo8 ecu will brick or just not write, but I wouldn't mess with it either way.

Ok thanks for the detailed answer Ceddy, that answers my question.
Codgi:
I was just wondering if it would be safe to edit those values really.. like maybe later on a customer may want to have it tailored to fit his vehicle or something..
