RS E9 turbo part number 1515A059 (approx cost 250,000 yen from Mitsi Japan). *Warning* There are reports of RS magnesium compressor wheel failing if boosted above stock boost.

More Evo 9 Turbo info:
... * New more efficient & larger Compressor preventing compressor surge
... * Better pump gas efficiency
... * Turbine Nozzle Area (cm2) = Large 10.5 Hotside (single flapper)
... * Improve actuator design

Side by side comparison E8 v E9 turbos (E9 is on the left and E8 on the right):

Twin scroll design

All Evo 4-8 Turbos are twin scroll designs meaning that the engines exhaust is divided into two channels (see first pic). As the engine exhausts in pulses.. its supposed to result in quicker spooling. From the Evo 4 onwards, the Turbo spins in the opposite direction, i.e. Anticlockwise (hence the R in the turbo name). The Titanium Alumnide alloy used in the RS/RS2 and some GSRS (factory option) has less inertia and thus spins up around 500 rpm sooner. These Titanium turbos can be indentified by the A in their name.

Im looking for the code + part numbers for everything (including subcomponents like housings etc). If people post em up I will consolidate.

Also I looked briefly for the E9 turbo codes and didnt find em - go ahead and post em up too. Otherwise Im sure Ill stumble across them shortly.

Boomtown,

Great presentation, I was familiriarized on about 60-70% of them. The T-25 efficiency rate vanishes at around 15psi.

an upgrade intercooler upper pipe are known to boost up the boost by 2 psi.

Anyone know what the 5MT v 6MT prefix on the code stands for on the E8 and E8 MR? Surely its not just the exhaust housing.

Here yuh go...

Ammendment:-
Evolution 8 MR aka "8.5"

GSR....... = TD05HR-16G6-10.5T
or.......... = TD05HRA-16G6-10.5T (Ti Alloy option)
RS..6MT: = TD05HRA-16G6-10.5T
or...5MT: = TD05HRA-16G6-9.8T

Nozzle Area (cm2) = 10.5 or 9.8 (RS-5 speed)
Compressor = Aluminium, 68mm wide

Addendum:-
Evolution 9 Turbine (USDM & JDM) - TD05HRA-16G6C-10.5T

GSR = Inconel alloy
GT.. = Magnesium alloy
RS.. = Titanium alloy

Nozzle Area (cm2) = 10.5
Compressor.......... = Aluminium, (xx) mm wide (to be verified.)

More Evo 9 Turbo info:
... * New more efficient & larger Compressor preventing compressor surge
... * Better pump gas efficiency
... * Turbine Nozzle Area (cm2) = Large 10.5 Hotside (single flapper)
... * Improve actuator design

New Evo 9 turbo (left)... and Evo 8 (right)

That should help...

Just different formatting to clarify the "5-speed" and "6-speed" turbo data for the RS.
e.g. Different "hot-sides" for different gear-box options, etc.
It's a personal opinion to avoid further misunderstandings that's all.

For more info maybe you could also add our local Forum as the other primary source of data... The Mitsubishi MadMen Forum at www.Zorce.com here -

http://www.zorce.com/zforums/viewfor...34f067847f65fd

If you're a "gear-head" you should find it interesting...

You have some screwed up info my friend. The EVO 1-3's are wrong. EVO 1-2's were big 16g's which flow 525 CFM (some EI GSR's are rumored to have had small 16g's which flow 505 CFM). EVO 3's had an EIII 16g which flows 550 CFM. (all at 15psi) Also, you have NO info ony any of the turbo's from the EVO 4 on other than their size and codes. who has the damn flow numbers and compressor maps for the twin scroll turbo's? id like to know.

Why is it every thread about turbos here ends up with someone pointing out all the real info and how it is screwed up. and noone replys. this guy above is 100% correct. you have mixed up info. and incomplete info. and HOW THE HELL DO YOU GUYS "KNOW" THE 9 TURBO IS SO MUCH BETTER? i want to see some info on this rather than the classic EVOM.net "i think its better cause everyone says it is so i will say it is too". *******

Question:

How do they actually get these results?
Are they actually placing some sort of gauge on the outlet of the turbo and then getting 15psi?

Are these lab results or just data from various people?

Hopefully this isn't too offtopic but Id like to know for reference!

they test them at 15 psi and the flow numbers are CFM or "cubic feet per minute".
