Unhappy help needed

Hey guys,

Thought I might throw this out. Anyways, my Evo died coming back from the Ring. I had a great time but on my way back home, I noticed a knocking noise from the engine compartment and a check engine light. I thought that was strange. I drove it for about 10 minutes and it got progressively worse. My friend noticed my temp gauge all the way up and I was like holy crap, better stop now. As soon as I roll in, the engine dies and I get no power. Here are some things that I noticed when i put up the hood:

1. Coolant reservoir is smoky and filled with water, not the typical green coolant.
2. Radiator is empty and I had to put in good ol rest stop sink water to help try and cool it down.
3. No other smoke under the hood except when I unscrew the oil cap and white smoke (moderate) comes out, nothing dramatic.

I did have a failed water pump previously to shipping my car out so I thought I wouldn't have any more issues. Also, I did have coolant spill in the engine compartment a few months ago but I thought it was related to my coolant reservoir being overfilled so I thought nothing of it.

Afte reading some evo forums, I think I have to replace the headgasket, put in new aftermarket head studs, new turbo coolant hose and check compression. If compression is still bad after the headgasket install, I might be looking at some bad cylinders (please oh please oh please don't let this be it).

So I have a big favor to ask. Is anyone mechanically inclined to helping me do this at the Ramstein hobby shop? If so, I will be forever grateful. I would do the physical labor and someone just point me in the right direction.

Thanks for helping out!

Sounds like a headgasket failure. Not sure what the Knocking noise is, spun rod bearing? Not sure. It would probably be something that got too hot, and failed. Sorry to hear about that. Any idea how long you were without fluid?

Mike PM me a price on the gasket and headstuds. Is the headgasket OEM?
