Running pump 91 gas

I was just wondering how far can you push it and still be safe on the tune as far as the boost? Also, I was wondering what is about the max power the stock internals can handle, basically wondering at which point would I have to start tearing the block apart? I guess I am just wondering what I can expect to be seeing since I am running only 91 octane fuel since i am in California, and I dont want to mess anything up as well.

Also, just kind of wondering what mods should be done before my first tune with out breaking the bank? what I was planning on doing was finishing the exhaust with the down pipe and cat delete/test pipe, o2 housing, ported exhaust manifold, boost controler, wide band, maybe biggers fmic with licp, damn other than that I cant think of what I should do... Plus I am tired and not really thinking to good right now. Oh maybe some cam shafts too. Please let me know.

Thanks

You'll find some people out there that run high boost on low octane fuel, but typically you'll see people running 23-25psi on any type of pump gas... the difference being that 91 won't be able to run as much timing as 93.

The stock block is easily good for 500whp, after that it starts to get iffy. So long as you get a good tune and drive it within its limits (ie, don't rev it past 8 grand) you should be OK.

You should try to do as much as you can before getting tuned, it wouldn't be a good idea to install new mods right after getting tuned.

^^ What he said. Also a lot of people are running meth injection so that they can advance the timing on lower octane fuel. People are also running e85 tunes with great power and success.

Right I understand not getting tuned then putting parts on just because that would make the tune basically a waste because I would hve to get it retuned after more upgrades were added. I would really like to know how I should go about starting this project, like what I should buy to bolt on before my first tune. I would like to be at around the 350 hp mark or higher as well, the drags are about to start up and I can't take a basically stock Evo out there lol. Furthermore, at which point will the stock clutch start to not perform good? Yea of course I know an aftermarked clutch will help anyways, but just trying to understand more of where the safe limits are with stock parts. I will not be dumping my clutch, maybe slipping it only on launches but thats about it untill I don't really have to worry about the clutch, but then again once thats out of the way I guess you have to worry about the TC or tranny getting messed up errrr!

I really appreciate all input, thanks alot guys.

Yea that's a good starting point, I don't know if I would need a new fuel pump yet as I have heard is will be fine expecially for those mods, seeing how it runs rich anyways, but could be wrong.
Any other suggestions out there? I heard 400hp was achieveable through bolt on, if this is correct what all would I need to get to those type of numbers. Also, would this be achieveable on pump 91 fuel or would I need to go to E85 or meth?

I'm basically in the same boat as you bro. I thought about the e85 and meth, but I was leaning towards these mods for the time being:
Lower IC Pipe
Race FMIC*
Cosworth M2 cams
BR Dual Valve springs & retainers
Ported & coated exhaust manifold (priced with your core)
BR manifold heat shield
SS 02 housing(maybe since you might as well put on a new turbo if you do this mod)
780 cc injectors

400whp on 91 is nearly impossible on the stock turbo. You're going to need to get a bigger snail for that to happen.

Well I don't know much about the fp green, would it be worth upgrading to that turbo? I will probably be doing some drag runs with it here soon for spring and summer and basically wanting to get some good ideas of where I should be going on this project, but I guess it's really hard to tell somebody what they should do because there is some many different setups for different reasons.

if you want 350 whp with 91 octane i'll give u some ideas. Mani, downpipe, test pipe, upper and lower IC piping (injen intake kite)720cc injectors and walbro 255 fuel pump, M7960 Tomei turbo. The tomei turbo is good for 400whp+ or u can do cams and front mount and not the tomei turbo.

E85 on stock turbo with the proper supporting mods will definitely put you over 400awhp.

True, I'm currently at 425/400 on E85 and the stock turbo. Going to be switching back to 91 though and hoping for 375 still on the stock turbo...
