Thanks 4kinBoost for the testing. You are always testing things, as a tuner and friend you have helped everyone gain some knowledge on two different dynos within 30 minutes of each other. It was funny to see Charlie's face when the car only made high 300's on the dyno!

As far as you feeling cradled on the dyno, I get the same feeling. I have been on a few different dynos and I must admit mid-high horsepower cars feel more stable and secure on a dynodynamics. Not only does the stabilize feature help keep the car strait but also the way the car is pulled into the rollers from behind. Not to mention the multiple load settings you can adjust to control the ramp rate of the rollers in accordance to the given rpm of the car.

Now with tuning comes partial throttle-cruise-0-100 load-100+ etc.....With the dynodynamics speed control and ability to hold the car in certain load cells, this dramatically increases tuning time. While being able to dip into certain load cells you can tune wide perameters of your map while doing nothing at all but setting a given speed and rpm.

These were just a few of DynoDynamics great features and I thank you again for conducting that test.

I use and understand Dyno Dynamics. In an Evo VIII, 400whp is 124mph in the quarter.

Dynojets and Mustangs seem to really run away with how much higher they read at high power levels. I've seen Dynojets that are about 12% higher at 300whp levels. At 400whp levels, they're more like 20-25% higher. Insane.

To the OP, I have no issue with those DD numbers on pump gas. They are bang on.

Thanks for the info, I have seen the same time and time again. The hardest part is explaining to someone that his/her car is making 400whp when they expect 500+whp and you have to sit them down and explain. I have seen some priceless faces

Thanks for the positive feedback...

On a side note, we held a back to back test with a hallman boost controller vs the forge boost controller that same evening.

It all started when we dumped race gas into the "Skull Evo" and set the boost to 39psi... (20psi spring in the tial 44mm gate and boost controller cranked all the way down).

Hallman peaked to 39psi and started dropping right off the bat. We ended up with about 36psi at 8500rpm.

I must admit that I was skeptical, but when the DGmotors crew kept pushing the forge as a cure --we just went for it. The forge not only held the 39psi for a longer duration, it held more boost to 8500. I was very pleased to say the least.

To all the guys that pushed Forge products to me that I ignored-- my apologies. That thing works!!!

That's a hard question to answer with-out knowing the weight of the vehicle.

400hp dynodynamics should be enough to trap 125mph in the 1/4. The "perfect pass" with a 1.60 60ft should put you right at the razor's edge 10.9x.

Of course the real world of drag racing for evo's includes slipping the clutch and NOT shifting like "Rolymatic" so that we can drive home from the track.

A little extra cushion of hp allows a modest driver 10's.

Just my own opiion..

^^ cool, sounds like i will be in the high 10s. Car being retuned at the moment with bigger fuel system and M&W ignition upgrade. My 414whp run was detuned as the car was running lean due to only having a single walbro pump :S . M&W should give a small gain too.

Thanks

Dynojets are tweaked to give an indication of flywheel power. See the scan below from March 2006 Hot Rod magazine where they interviewed the guy (Dobeck) who designed the dynojet. Anyone who has done some engine dyno work will tell you the Dynojets numbers are rubbish.

i dyno'd 282awhp with basic bolt ons on a dyno dynamics. very next day i attended a dyno day in which a dynojet was used. i peaked at 312awhp with identical mods and fuel.

food for though i suppose.

1.0 correction factor on the DD.

haha erkle i told u forge is the best. forged boost controllers ftw. never had any problems with them and they hold boost great. but it was def a good test to conduct and now people can see that boost controllers really do help, so for all those people out there choose your boost controllers wisely

Well said Mark,

What amazes me is professional tuning shops still use DynoJet's.... doesn't make any sense to me.

I guess some ppl love seeing a massive number on the dyno chart even if its total garbage
