FP Red - E85 & DB Performance

~31psi my wastegate is blowing open on my new FP Red. If I unhook the MBC and cap off the lines the wastegate holds same boost graph.

Another FP Red evo at Shane's shop made pretty much identical power at same boost. I bet his wastegate is blowing open too as our boost graphs are identical.

Going to try a turn or two on the turnbuckle and see if the wastegate will hold more boost.

Anyway, Shane at DB Performance tuned my car to a nice 432hp/395tq on E85. This is stock block, original head gasket and head studs.

3" TBE/o2 housing no cat
FMIC
DB Performance MBC
1250cc blue max
255 Walbro
FP 3" intake
Perrin Filter
FP4R cams
FP Red 80mm hosuing
E85

E85 FTMFW

DynoDynamics AWD dyno, a 407hp dsm just went 127mph to give you an idea of performance. Also my car went 118mph at around 320hp last year. Cars on this dyno make ~16% more on a local AWD Dynojet.

Thanks Shane, you rock the 4g63 like no other!

Nice numbers man! I know you must be pretty happy with those numbers, it must feel really good too. I'm still on my DB E70 tune from last fall(#'s in sig), and still loving it!

Sweet numbers, that would be around 510-550 on a Dyno-Jet, and a 130mph car.

Yes, single pump is on the edge of being maxed out and we may be masking some of it by increased duty cycle on the 1250's. On some earlier runs it was leaning out a bit at 6500rpms on up. I think if we shot for 11.5:1 it may have been difficult. I'll try and get make some logs as I am unsure of my duty cycle offhand as we didn't use my laptop. Also the earlier part of the graph, the 31psi area I am sure duty cycles are great, its the upper RPMs from 6K on up where I bet my duty cycles may be higher than the need to be because of the single walbro on E85.

It was a quick dyno session yesterday to see if the FMIC helped or not as a week earlier I could only make 406hp and 368tq on same boost levels and stock FMIC. Stock FMIC really stopped picking up power after 26-27psi.

Another local evo, almost identical mods started going lean on his 255 and 1000cc on E85 at around 425hp so I know my 1250cc injectors are probably helping a bit. I have a boost a pump on order for when I get alittle more boost out of this setup.

Another GT35r powered evo maxed his fuel pump and 1000cc injectors on E85 at about 430hp too on the same dyno.

I just love how the car rips to 8K now. My stock IX turbo could peak pretty good, over 370 sometimes but by 6800 it was almost down to 300hp. Now its just awesome to 8k.

Also, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit but my first dyno session with the red, 27-31psi it picked up no additional power so we know we hit a restriction. I was still running the stock FMIC, not worried about cooling as its e85 more worried about the flow. So I picked up an ebay FMIC at the last second from a local guy who wrecked his evo. No other change to anything, just installing the ebay FMIC gained 26hp and 25tq first pull back on dyno lol.

Did you notice any knock or loss of power after doing more pulls on the dyno due to any heat soak from the ebay FMIC?

We did quite a few pulls back to back at one time trying different boost pills and MBCs setting the boost trying to get over 31psi until we realized the wastegate was simply blowing open. No knock but HP does fall off maybe ~5hp across the curve once things got a bit warmer.

I'm running E85, its a cool fuel so you don't need as much inter cooler. My stock FMIC wasn't holding me back because of cooling, it was restricting flow. The ebay intercooler may suck at cooling but its bar plate design flows way better than stock. We even joked around running a straight pipe instead of an intercooler just to see how much more it could make on one pull.

E85 is so resistant to knock, just for fun we threw 4 more degrees of timing across the board over an already aggressive timing map and it still didn't knock. At that point that additional timing wasn't picking up any real gains so we scaled it back. On e85 so far on my evo I'm only limited to the amount of boost and where timing and leaner fuel values no longer provide more power. The only occasional knock I'll see is once in a while on spool up

That was a joke, sorry my statement may have been misleading.

I test and compared my evo against another FP Red IX that was tuned today on a mustang dyno locally at 459hp/422tq on E85 and we were dead even. I'm very happy with the car.

I am going to try crushing the IX bov just a bit and see if maybe its my bov thats actually limiting boost. Also going to port the turbine housing and adjust for more preload on the WG this weekend. I'll update the thread again once I have new dyno numbers and track times.

Starting to worry a bit about the engine holding up, heh.
