were you looking at a e8 or e9 turbo, as e9 turbos are .77 AR from mitsubishi too

The Tomei hotside is wider to acomodate the thicker & wider turbine wheel and the casting is matched to the gasket. It looked OK until the oil burnt off and some water got to it, it rusted badly, more than the e9 10.5 OEM hotside I've had for 4 years.

IMO its a good idea to get the turbo housing ceramic coated inside and out on any turbo, sounds like this would beneficial especially on the Tomei since it uses a different grade of cast iron than the factory housing.

Tomei came through! Got home today to find the replacement. I'm going to do a 1 to1 visual comparison, I wish I had a micrometer to measure thickness all the way in there and report back this weekend.

***the new hotside casting is different no numbers on the sides of the inlet and there is a tomei logo on one side, looks better overall. Also it is machined totaly different visually, I can see now the difference; the machined part was done wrong and ate into the volute.

Anyways got some pictures to reconfirm this

Basically i think is July to august shipments from tomei had false hotside turbo housing "All the pictures that were posted with broken housing has no logo on the exhaust side"

The one i bought is a little bit different, because there is a logo and i think is new version! please let me know if I'm wrong but also for the tomei website all the hotside , ehxaust housing don't have the tomei logo on it

hey guys, just another tomei owner here and got tuned last night. just wanted to share some numbers.

cosworth 272 m2
ets 3.5" intercooler
intake, intercooler piping
tomei arms, 02 housing, downpipe
resonated test pipe
2.75" catback-no resonators
stock IM, EM, TB

440whp 393wtq @26psi on E85 - on a DynaPack Dyno

So, im assuming the numbers may be a little higher on a Dynojet dyno???

Either way, im very happy and the car pulls strong all the way to limiter.

Yours is the new version, look at the machinig on the hotside facing the center cartdrige and look ant the pictures posted here, you'll be able to see the difference.

The piece that cracked open [more like blew out] on mine is paper thin. I dont think there will be a problem with this one at all.

DynaPaks typically read HIGHER than a dynojet since there is no wheel weight to rotate.

Congrats either way.
