I'm a fan of the polished look but I absolutely do not like how some manifolds turn a brown-ish color. I might just roll with the BR ported and jet coated and call it a day.

Do you have an VIII or IX? If an VIII, how much would you let them go for?

so, to recap:
there is one documented test with poor results (CBRD)
there are two documented positive threads

i mention this not to question any particular results, but to provide a quick reality check because the way this thread is progressing (that it is a proven upgrade) could lead casual viewers to believe that this is an effective upgrade when compared to other stock frame turbos.

i think that folks looking at stock frame turbo upgrades would well advised to wait it out a bit more. there are compelling options out there that are either well documented (such as CBRD's BBK) or at least promising (MAPerformance's SST, CBRD's bigger BBK, or FP's HTA 73 Green) to warrant consideration.

then post up!
do you have any BBKs or HTA Greens on your dyno for comparison? i am looking for intellectually honest comparisons, specifically the different stock frame turbos on the same dyno (preferably by dyno operator, second best is by dyno type with similar correction factors). let's be real, vendor results make people wonder about conflict of interest, no matter how good the reputation.

There are not many BBK's here in Florida from what I seen or heard and the HTA Green just came out and there are maybe a handful of them out. Same thing with the Tomei there are not really that many, the most I say maybe 20-30 or so. We don't use mustang dynos, we use dynojets and therefore cannot change anything in the numbers and the correction factor is there for you to see in plain sight. I'll keep everyone updated, its a mild build but its on E85 so the I guess we could compare to other turbos on a dynojet, if thats what you are looking for. Wish us luck, we just wan't to see our friend and customer leave happy and hope he is satisfied by the time he leaves us to go have fun with his car

I think that all of the stock-framed turbos are great options. It all boils down to what are the plans for each car and ultimate goals. Now, making the decision is where it gets tough.

i was thinking about a tomei turbo but i too will have to examine all the options out there. i do like the fact that when u buy the tomei u get everything in 1 box. my goal isn't astronomical @ 450whp but it has to be reliable power & not just peak dyno power so i need to do a built motor b4 i do a turbo since i tend to drive a little more "spirited" than most. probly do a MoTeC plug n play ecu b4 a turbo tho as both are almost the same price & i can benefit more from the ecu like anti-lag to keep driveline replacement costs down...

maybe in the future, the total would be pretty steep though and I dont have that kind of money to be throwing around at the moment, if I was still working at my previous job i would do it with my eyes closed.

Is that 420whp tuned on 93 pump gas? That is ridiculously awesome number man. I'm going to find if there's air leak somewhere this spring and will do some more tuning then. I suppose the Kelford cams help out a lot more than HKS cams.

Yea its on straight 93, the kelfords definitely help with the top end but i lose a little spool as well, the car pulls strong all the way to redline too Check the leak and let me know how it goes, you should make more power than you did last time, good luck
