Evo9 FP Red + Magnus v5 = OMFG!
In my most recent trip to the dyno I added the Magnus v5 intake manifold and tuned it on VP c16.
AWD Dynojet @ Drift Office in Auburn Washington Thank you Bob and Bill. I appreciate you guys coming in on a Saturday! Always a pleasure.
2006 Evo 9
HKS Air Filter
FP 3" Intake pipe
FP Red 80mm turbo w/18psi actuator
R/TErnie SS 3" o2 Housing and Downpipe (catless)
RMR 3" Exhaust
Tephra v5.10 w/Mr. Fred patches
OMNI 4 bar MAP sensor
AEM EBC Solenoid
AEM UEGO Wideband
Walbro 255HP Fuel pump
Injector Dynamics 1000cc
Denso Iridium IK24's gapped @ .022"
Muse Battery Tray w/PCS680
R/TErnie LICP and UICP
R/TErnie 22x12x3.5" Intercooler
TiAL 50mm bov
and the new addition...
Magnus v5 Intake Manifold (picked up 53whp peak HP and gain of 72 HP @ (ironically 7200 RPM) Magnus v5 I was able to achieve more boost with the new intake manifold... This is what the manifold did for me... your results may vary.
R/TErnie Tuned on VP c16 (got it from Randy's Offroad in Arlington, WA)
STOCK LONGBLOCK. From the valve cover to the oil pan... OEM
538 AWHP UNCORRECTED/ 521 SAE CORRECTED The RED LINE is of my stock 9 turbo with Intake and Exhaust. Nice comparison to show the response of the Red.
(Post #14 has the pre and post magnus dyno)
I'd like to thank the people that have helped make this possible.
Aaron at English Racing for all the help and advice.
Tony Palo @ T1 for the badass injectors
Magnus for doing their homework and making a manifold that makes power.
FastFreddie for all of your help and being a great friend.
Tephra, Mr.Fred, jscbanks, and more for your great work with the factory ECU.
Bill and Bob @ Drift Office for your help and pleasant atmosphere.
The crew @ Forced Performance for their badass turbo and willingness to listen.
I'm very happy with the results... we'll see how it does at Mission Raceway on October 9th. Shooting for 10.XX@13X MPH

this is awesome Ernie !!! congratz on the numbers ! im really happy to see this, because you pretty much have the setup i would like to run eventually and its nice to see a dyno graph with stock turbo with bolt-ons compared to the FP-red + bolt-ons, so i know what to expect roughly... keep up the good work bro !

Am I missing something? You say you did a direct back comparison with the Magnus intake. Why isn't there a dyno overlay with the Red+stock intake and the Red+Magnus? Also, you say you were able to run more boost. Do you have numbers at the same boost for a true before/after comparison? Lastly, on the dyno you posted of the Red vs stock turbo, is the Red curve before or after the Magnus intake? Also, is your stock turbo curve on pump or race gas?

Evovin,
Yes I welded the map sensor in there. The magnus comes with no provision for a map sensor. When I do my write up on the Magnus install (hopefully today) I'll explain it all in there.
scarface2jz and 94AWDcoupe,
Thank you
Fathouse,
Thanks for the props on the o2 housing. I have some really good pictures of it when I was fabricating it. It looks millions better when it was new lol. I think they're on my work computer...
Boost is vastly different. I actually meant to remove that part about the direct comparison (I will edit that out) Because the boost is so different...it's hard to draw any conclusive evidence from the dyno plot. For a boost to boost comparison, I'll have to email Bob/Bill and see if one of my pulls was similar in boost level. I raised the boost in 2psi increments, so there should be something that is similar.
Stock Turbo Dyno was on 92. Red w/magnus was on c16
Dyno below is before and after with the magnus. The boost isn't even close, so take it for what it's worth... What you should know is that WGDC was @ 100 from 5200 and up... so that data IMO... is a good comparison.
Pre-Magnus and Post Magnus on c16. Yes the boost is quite different... take it for what it's worth. There are a few reasons why I wouldn't call this a "direct comparison" Boost pressure isn't the same and the runs weren't started at the same RPM. But what I can tell you is the car is definitely faster and it made GOBS more power with the turbo running full-song.
If you've done a bunch of intake manifold development as I have you'll notice the Helmholtz Frequency shift from the runner length change. It's very evident on restricted NA cars and shows up in the fuel map clear as day... this is the first time I've personally seen it on a boosted application.
