EVO DYNAMICS STRIKES AGAIN - pure_evo, (411whp/394wtq; 30PSI; E85)
s*** happens. so let me get this straight though...you dont have a boost gauge, nor a wideband?...and you're running around at 30psi?
i know its a time to be somber, but come on dude. atleast take some initiative to protect your investment. get the necessary guages, and datalog your pulls!
seems like your tuner is fully capable, and knows what he's doing. user error, or just a weak motor. rebuild w/ some nice forged internals, and boost on.

here is the log from the tune on the car: you can see nothing out of the ordinary. max torque timing was around 5 degrees, peak timing was near 20 degrees. that is a typical E85 tune (some are more aggressive yet). you can see two 1 count of knock but that is nothing to worry about (not rod throwing knock), and the timing is not beyond MBT as noted by the repeated runs we did with improving torque figures every time. the AFR and boost curves are on denvers laptop, but the boost was not above 30psi, and AFRs were in the low 12's on a gas calibrated wideband. (12-12.3AFR).
some engines fail. simple as that. it really sucks when it happens, i know first hand how it feels (and on my old porsche of all the cheapest cars to replace motors in
). i've seen ring lands fail on pump gas, stock turbo, low boost tunes, and i've seen stock motors make into the 530+whp range on stock everything. we should take everything apart to see what if anything is discernible from the damage (rod bolt let go, boost line of wastegate pop off, fuel pressure regulator vacuum line pipe off, wastegate stuck shut, could be any number of reasons, including knock, bad E85, boost spike, etc...) knock is usually pretty easy to see on the piston tops if that was the case. it could just be a weak rod.

. i'm going to help Pure_evo out as much as possible, and hopefully we can find out why it failed.

Quarters? What's the matter? I bet it's the typical Iraqi winter getting the better of you.

I'm just getting things ready for my rebuild. It's going to be a long process and truly a test of patience. I just don't want to go through this ever again so bulletproof for the engine and drivetrain is the name of the game from now on.

Everyone kept asking me why I had Kevin do a bottom end build when he did my 60k service, I went with Howard 1000 hp rods and wiseco HD pistons, full head work, dual springs, 272's...because I knew what was coming. I just put on my 35R and will be going with alot of meth and I want to go f a s t, I say do it right the first time, at least as right as you can. Glad you're getting it taken care of, good luck
