AMS doesnt have a new sheetmetal intake manifold that i am aware of.. Not to mention i doubt youll see 40hp on your combination of parts.. I have run 9.1@157mph with a stock ported manifold..

Low 120's... maybe high teens i would say is spot on.
Nice gains with the GSC, seems the new design is very good. Do you still have the 6-speed in your car? You could trap low 120's but the problem is you'll run out of 4th gear and you can't rev out your car either since its on stock springs and retainers, I trapped 120 with about 20whp and 30tq less but I had an Evo 8 4th in a 5-speed, my car is a fat *** too so don't worry about that. I'm not experienced in racing the 6-speed, just take it to the track and let us know I guess.

Not really sure i get what you mean by running out of 4th gear...but yeap oem 6 speed is in the car still. I'll get it to the track eventually. Knowing me I wont go out of my way in January but by Feb/March I'll be settled in my new house and ready to roll.

^so u saying the mr 6speed car have to shift to 5th gear to get to the finish line. That might take some times off the et no. That's mean the 5speed car is faster than the 6speed car right?

What he means is the 4th gear in the 5 speed especially in the 8 is longer than the 4th gear in the six speed. What gear are you in when you cross the 1/4 mile? In a 5 speed many people just stretch out 4th because it's good to about 120. In the 6 speed you may need an additional gear shift to 5th. This makes the 6 speed a disadvantage in drag racing. Your 4th isn't as tall and without the aftermarket valve train you can't confidently stretch 4th to the finish line without possibly floating a valve.

Anyway, nice gains. The shape of the new power band is sexy.

Perfect explanation. Thanks. Powerband is much improved. I love the fact that the power is significantly higher ..comes in sooner and lasts longer.

First no offense get your facts straight i love when people don't have a 6spd and think they know it all well here it is the real facts and the tranny is simliar except for 1st and 2nd gear which i love cause it revs so fast...5-speed >> 2.928:1, 1.950:1, 1.407:1, 1.031:1, 0.720:1, :1

6-speed >> 2.909:1, 1.944:1, 1.434:1, 1.100:1, 0.868:1, 0.693:1, :1

.03 spread between 5 and 6 speed box.

Your tranny just fine for trapping 120's in 4th.

I am still seeing thread after thread of tranny gear misinformation. I am the auther of "shift to fifth" in the drag section. I would take a 6 speed over a 5 speed at the track any day of the week and twice on sunday. Thats if they were as strong as five speeds. The gear ratios are closer ratio gears and a distinct advatage. The whole raeson there is a 6 speed is because its easier to keep engine in its sweet spot. that does not change for straight line acceleration.

Well then...I'm even more confident than before. Thanks!

Don't be bashing people when YOU don't have YOUR facts straight, the MR 4th is like the IX 4th...NOT THE VIII. Also I guess you missed the part where he can't rev out his motor past 7500, from the info below you can see he will have to shift to 5th gear

Evo IX 4th - 1.096:1
Evo MR 4th - 1.100:1
Evo VIII 4th - 1.03:1

Speed with stock final drive, 7500 RPM:

----------------------------- 4th
VIII 5 Speed ------------ 121.7
IX GSR 5 speed & MR----114.5

I rest my case
