Mellon Tuning 35R 93 octane @ 30psi

Customer:Mario
Username:mak1000
Location:Houston, TX
Model:2005 EVO8 5-speed USDM
E-mail tune
PTE 1000cc
Walbro fuel pump
93 octane
30psi
3" tbe tab fab header
AMS street fmic 4"
arc air filter box
hks 272
35R
fuel rail
profec b spec II @ 85%, 8 gain
DLL 479/389

Normally the range for my 35R customers on 93 octane is 475-525 to give you an idea. I've suggested to Mario that a cam upgrade like the Kelford 280 would make a nice bump in power over the mild HKS 272. He's also running an ARC intake box and I suspect that a cone filter and hard intake pipe might also help the 35R breathe. A ported intake and tb would help too.

Mario already had an encounter with an 05 viper running a filter and tune, he put 3 cars on it

Mario took my advice and stepped up from the HKS 272 cams and ARC air intake box to the Kelford 280 and Cone filter...boy did it wake up! still 93 octane 30psi

Looking good man.

Chris what would be the outcome of lowering boost to say 26psi and adding some more timing in. Would you gererally see close to the same numbers?

I know my car takes better to higher boost

Usually this is the result on a 35R:

20psi = 400awhp
25psi = 450awhp
30psi = 500awhp

seems on par for what my car makes. I've tried lowring boost to 23-24 mark and adding some timing got some knock. Pulled timing back out put the boost back up to 26-27ish and its happy again DLL showing around 465

I really didn't expect the stock clutch to handle those pulls, I figure one hard launch and it'll be toast though

depends on the dyno...but typically my customers get a little higher numbers on a dynojet but less on a mustang if it hasn't been tampered with to read like a dynojet.

Awesome to see results!!

Don't forget with the cam upgrade you should probably pop in some springs/retainers!

Awesome job on the tune Mellon. I think with a cam upgrade, and a cone filter he will crack 500whp pretty easy! He already has a 4" aluminum intake. It's making some pretty good torque too, my header seams to be doing well
