BBK Full + GSC S2s + Grimmspeed ECBS + Boomba Racing
I was happy with the power the car made, but more importantly so was the customer. But the car was knocking, epically in the upper rpms. When I pulled some timing the knock wasnt there. It wasnt real bad but it defiantly got my attention. As you guys know tuning is a balance between timing, fuel, boost, ect.
To put more boost at the car reacting like this would not be beneficial. With this car, on that day, in my opinion it was not a good idea!
Damian: I want to try some different gas when you come back in. In this area shell 93 seems to be the best. What gas was in the car?
Bottom line is the car still made good power, especially for 22psi!
CBRD's turbo FTW!

That really surprises me. I'm in the process of trying to get my Black dialed in for the track and the EGTs are hitting the verge of unsafe levels at only 24-25 psi on straight pump, and the Black has a more free flowing turbine than the BBK. If you have any data on EGTs with the BBK, I'd love to hear it. To combat the EGTs, I'm working on reinstalling my Aquamist kit for water injection before turning up the boost any further.
What are unsafe EGTs? Turbine technology is at the point today where as long as there isnt boundary layer disruption in the head, running 1600* isnt as bad as it was 10 years ago...even 5 years ago. AMS TA1 car would get the header glowing with a 35R and it didnt seem to mind.
EGTs can be contained with AFR, timing, and/or fuel. Water in and of itself isnt necessarily going to combat the EGTs. I would run the biggest single nozzle that Aquamist sells (I believe the 1.0m) and run straight meth without altering how the car is setup.
High 10s for AFR, timing as high as you can keep it, and boost where you want it. A 20 min lap session with cool down doesnt seem to be a problem for our road race guys on gasoline and definitely not on E85.

Most of our roadrace cars also run on 93.. I have one in particular with a stock block, 52,000 miles, does 2-3 track days a month, on a BBK with a cat running 28.5 psi, sometimes spikes to 30...
