We just finished doing a back to back dyno test on Skunks 68mm billet throttle body. We were impressed with the results. Average of 8-12hp and peak 10 ft.lbs of torque. Stay tuned as mak-speed.com will be doing a dyno test on Skunks intake manifold for the 4G63.

This motor is a last minute rebuilt for SEMA stock motor. It's a GT40 non bb that was meant for a 2.4 motor that we fried with a bad injector. The 2.4 motor is making 130hp more at 4600 RPMs-

What did you test it back-to-back against? Stock? Ported?

Skunks 68mm
It retails for $380 and as far as tuning goes we didn't touch the fueling even though we did notice our AFRs lean out about -.2 to -.4 at some areas. Keep in mind we are running an Autronic system w speed density so for factory MAF should take care of fuel compensation on the increase of air flow.

The test was against a stock throttle body.

Dont know how long ago that thread (JUNK) was but everything worked fine for us and we just finished this last week. Maybe Skunk has done their homework on the problems. Every company goes through problems especially when they're the first to design-prototype a new product..then everyone else just copies it Oh we did encounter one problem, the throttle cable bracket is touching the fuel line on a Perrin fuel rail because of the angle - so you need to shave part of it or get the another fuel rail.

Here's some pics--

Did you guys *actually* do a boost leak test to see if the seals held pressure? This was the big issue with the one we had locally on Kracka's car, even the new seals they sent were junkity junk.

Also I don't see a boost plot overlay, that would be helpful in knowing where the gains came from

looks like it was used with the skunk 2 intake manifold also.. so it is known to perform when using that intake manifold according to another test by a vendor on here. with that said ill never go near skunk2 parts for my evo ever.

No Skunk Intake manifold yet..we will try to install that this week and see what improvements it makes. As far as boost leak goes, here is a graph with data and the boost stayed the same for both runs.

well maybe its revised then. i think they made multiple revisions of the intake manifold also, so it makes sense that it would be revised. skunk2 seems to offer good things to the honda world, but not so much to the mitsubishi.

it does look like a very nice piece tho for sure. you should compare it on dyno with ported stocker though.. if it makes signficant power over a ported stocker it would sell like wildfire on here if its a direct bolt on.

in the Honda world, you can market almost any crap to them and they'll buy it.
