thanks for all the comments guys! The FP Black is an amazing turbo (even on pump gas) with the right combo and tune. I'm not a competitive autocrosser so not concerned with the decrease in spool...the additional 100hp up top right now is more fun than the stock turbo and when its time for the 2.3 or 2.4 and better fuel I should be near 650+ w/my setup on high boost.

nice numbers. i wonder at what rpm a black will hit full boost on a stroker or a 2.4.

my 2.3 does 32psi by 3800rpm, so you're looking at around 36psi by say 4200rpm and peak torque by 4400-4500rpm. extremely fun setup for sure. (this is on a map ported exhaust manifold, br stage 3 head)

The tune is much cleaner... smoother driving and yea the power is neck snapping compared to where I was a few months ago. This tune has made a new set of tires a priority...I'm spinning in 1st and 2nd now.

Those are great numbers for the black snail on 93!
I've noticed there are some Forced Performance haters lurking and thats likely who is trash talking?

FP has a good thing going and selling what a lot of us want...reliable, inexpensive, stock appearing turbo option that makes good power!

vrsf, I am thinking about maybe FP green on 93 but tempted to go red or even black. It'll be for street driving on stock bottom and it has 150k miles. Runs great w/ stock IX turbo. Just that I wish it had bit more. I'll eventually build the bottom end. Knowing the upgrade for turbos are about same cost...which would you recommend?

Does 84mm port improve reduce lag? I had FP red w/ 64mm cover on another evo and found it to be laggy for street... Just tempted again... lol thx

it all depends on what you want.. a bigger laggier turbo is actually safer on stock internals since it delays torque/peak boost.

fp green will spool like a stock 9 turbo

the 84mm surge ports are to reduce compressor surge of the turbo, and should be used imo.. plus makes a cool whistle noise also.

based on what you said, id recommend a fp green hta to you since you dont like lag.

how much more HP are you talking ? whats it at now? you might be satisfied with what the stock evo 9 can produce with supporting mods.

S1 cams, RC1000 with stock 9 at 23psi 350/350. Wouldn't mind 450/400 on 93 with stock motor... Thanks

that would be a fun car.. curious why you are running relatively low boost now? think there are some cars on here that have made 450 (virtual dyno) on an hta green but run more boost and perhaps e85 to get there but search around.. what dyno was your current350/350 made on?
