Keep it 2.0, its simple tried and true. If you build that six-speed make sure to increase the final drive and your numbers will improve greatly. I don’t know why people dabble in these weird engine combos, a solid 2.0 will rev and make the power needed with mo other worries.

Well like I said I'm not looking to build the motor right now so I haven't really put much thought into it...but I'm sure when that time comes around I'll weigh the options more closely.
I know what you mean though, a built 2.0 is simple and it works...but my train of thought was, why build a motor that's designed to rev when the turbo that I'm using isn't (based on my graph, I'm only building power up to 7500rpm, then it starts to fall off)
Not very versed in this area, so I could be totally wrong.

One of the main reasons for it falling is the internal gate. If you go external that problem would be far less. You could also get a FP Black or even a GT35R HTA and rev it out. The Red has made 9 second passes on a 2.0 and ported head built motor yaddah yaddah so basically it really isn’t limited as much as you think, just keep it simple and as close to spec as what Mitsubishi Engineers had in mind and just “raise the volume limits” of the cars personality. That is at least the way I see it and will go. Without question the 2.0 would be the strongest motor and yield the most predictable results.

Building the motor would not only be for safety, but I'd probably go with something like a high comp 2.1L so the turbo wouldn't have to work so hard.
But for now I'm not changing anything for the next meet, what I think I'll do is plan on heading down to west on the Sat instead for test and tune, since trying to get in practice runs on the day of the meet is next to impossible.
You attending the next meet?
I would love to attend the next meet. I'm not sure as yet though. Seems the next meet should be very competitive..

How long do you expect the stock block to last at that much power? Just curious, because I just got my Precision 5857 today, and I'm aiming between 440-480 on a dynojet. I run 100octane.

It isn't horse power it is the torque. Keep the torque at 400 FP's and your motor will last as long as you want it to.

Some good advice there, thanks man...much appreciated.
Yea I think I'm more leaning towards durability/strength as opposed to the most potent motor.

Yep, they've set it for Nov. 27th so not much time.
I just heard that they're doing a grudge match meet at Vernam the end of this month...so basically you go on wheelsja and vote for whichever match-up you'd like to see take place, should be interesting.

I've been running the motor like this for a while now and haven't had any trouble whatsoever. Like High_PSI said, its the tq that kills the motors.

Well I finally got it, the last meet for the year and I got my 10sec pass...
I know there's more left in it, but this was such a trying meet I decided to call it a season after that.

As is I think the car has a good 10.7-.8 in it, but the conditions weren't in my favor at all this time around.
stay tuned...
