Colton's 2.4 Evo IX
One of our customer's, Colton, had just purchased his Evo IX from a used car lot when the unthinkable happened. As he was driving home the balance shaft belt snapped and took out the timing belt which in turn took out the motor. The valves played ping pong and it become necessary for a new motor.
At first Colton wasnt sure what he wanted to do since his BBK was lost in the engine damage as well. We came up with a plan after Colton had figured out what the dealership was going to help with.
We built a standard rod 2.4, some HKS 272/280s we had on the shelf, a new IX head (stock), and a stock IX turbo. Because there were other things on the car that needed addressed there wasnt an opportunity to spend as much on go fast parts so things like an SD conversion, O2 dump, or larger turbo had to be left for now.
The car did have a fair amount of good parts to use on it already so the exhaust and O2 housing were left untouched as well as the FMIC. A set of 880s were already installed as well so after a quick break in it was off to the dyno to see what she would do on low boost. The results are pretty impressive actually, keep in mind this is 21psi on a STOCK turbo.

mods-
ER SR2.4
Stock port IX head (modded MIVEC gear)
HKS 272 intake/280 exhaust
Works O2 housing
3" TBE
3.5" FMIC
PTE 880s
255lph
etc.

92 octane for now. The car only has 880s in it so if its going to stay on the IX turbo for awhile that would probably be okay but it really should get some larger in it like 1200s and twins. The car actually has a stock LICP which I didnt realise until about an hour ago. Lots of room left to grow just need to wait for the funding since no one ever expects a newly purchased car to lose a motor.
It should be pretty close to Jake's with E85 and boost (but even faster response)-

Also the motor we are using is the same as the one in my sig-

Thank you so much guys! (This is Colton)
I can't wait to drive her! I bought her from Silverline Automotive in Portland, OR... They decided to tell me it was a consignment vehicle after we had problems with the car. So i had to deal with the owner of the car then instead of the dealer... (totally crap). I ended up getting 2,000 from him.
Although, this is all stuff I would have wanted to do at one time anyways, so I've been trying to look at it as i get $2,000 off the build i wanted... I just wasn't able to afford all i want yet. Can't wait to see how much we can get out of her.
Thanks again to all the guys at English.

At least you got something rather than nothing. I can't help but to feel bad for a fellow evo guy, I know how many of us love these cars and to get screwed for no reason in one way or another. The car looks like a blast from the build and dyno sheet. I hope nothing but the best for you in the upcoming future and the best of luck.

Once we get some more instrumentation and a few more mods, this should definitely make really good power. We have made 394/444 on more or less the same combination in an VIII, so I think a IX should be able to all of that at 27-28psi.
